Songdo jazz bar with Friday night band show and stone steak: Jazz 257

My husband and I had a rare Friday night to ourselves, so while thinking of a date course for a couple in our 30s-40s, we visited 'Jazz 257,' located in the atmospheric Songdo Central Park.

<JAZZ 257> is located on the 2nd floor of the Artforet building in Songdo, near the Central Park water taxi dock, so it's really easy to find.

Booking Friday 8pm for seats in front of the stage

We arrived a little after 8pm, and since we had a reservation, we got to sit right in front of the stage. There were groups having gatherings, couples on dates — there were more seats than I expected.

Stone steak and house wine at Jazz 257

We ordered Jazz 257's signature stone steak and house wine. We'd already had dinner, but steak is protein, right? Haha. Besides the steak, the chef also makes pizza dough from scratch, and apparently that's another main dish! A staff member came over to introduce and pour the wine for us.

Most of the staff seemed to be international students. Since it's located in Songdo International City's Central Park, it seems a lot of foreigners come here too.

For a moment I wondered, am I really in Korea? A different kind of space and atmosphere you can feel in Songdo, Incheon, without even having to go all the way to Seoul. It felt like a brief illusion of being abroad.

They said this was a great steak spot in Songdo, and with a hot stone plate, you can cook it as much as you like to your own taste — it was even better, and so tender.

The stone steak even came with a mini fire show event. I captured it on video as a keepsake.

Inside Jazz 257: atmosphere and the lake view

Since it was Friday night, there were a lot of guests, so I couldn't take many photos of the interior, but take a look at the decor to get a little feel for the atmosphere~

We were drinking wine above. The view outside was so nice too. I often come here to walk around Central Park, and Jazz 257 lets you enjoy the lake view as a bonus.

Each table also had its own lighting, and there were a lot of interior props adding to the mood.

The Friday band show: first set and second set

On the Friday we visited, there was a trio band performance with vocals, piano, guitar, and bass. Apparently on Fridays and Saturdays it's band performances by top domestic musicians, and on weekdays and Sundays there are live performances of various genres.

I don't know much about jazz, but I got completely swept up in the atmosphere and at some point found myself riding the rhythm along with everyone else, haha. They even sang the one song I actually knew. The way the vocalist played with the notes was so good. The instrumentalists too. During the final encore they played a totally improvised piece, and it sparked a bit of passion in me to properly learn an instrument again, haha.

The show was split into two sets, and in between, a different singer came out too, so the energy never dropped!

This is exactly when you'd use the phrase 'so good-looking.' He looked amazing, and his voice was so beautiful too — you really have to go and hear it in person!

We sat right in front and filmed so much footage it must have been a bit much, but he said he had no issue with portrait rights, haha. I sometimes listen to it alone at home now~ Thank you.

So the flow wouldn't break, we ordered an extra dish too. I'd seen someone carrying out fruit earlier and it looked delicious, haha.

After the show ended that day, we talked for a bit before heading out, and it was a little past 10pm when we left, so the performance ran almost two hours.

Terrace seats and birthday events

On our way out I took a photo of the terrace seating area. They apparently do birthday events for guests here too~ Everyone clapped and celebrated together, and the atmosphere was so nice! (My husband should've caught it well on camera... did he?)

If you walk from Central Park toward Artforet, you'll find the boat dock, and Jazz 257 is on the 2nd floor in that direction.

At night, the lighting brings Artforet even more to life.
