On a weekend early lunch, I went with Cheoni and our baby to eat some delicious sushi at Sushi Doku The Songdo 🍣✨

The restaurant connects to the basement of Hyundai Premium Outlet Songdo, so it's super convenient for planning a route with shopping or browsing before or after eating with a baby!

How long is the wait at early weekend lunch, and can you book?

This place is such a famous sushi restaurant in Songdo that I booked ahead — and thank goodness I did! Even during weekend early lunch, seats filled up fast and a wait started forming... I thought, who's eating at 11am? But there were people even earlier than us everywhere haha. Unfortunately, Naver reservations are now only available for parties of 6 or more ㅠㅠ

Why Sushi Doku The Songdo works with a baby: the cling-wrapped baby chair

As soon as we were guided to our seat, the staff were so kind that it put me in a good mood from the start ☺️ Hygiene and the baby chair are always what I worry about most when eating out with a baby, and this place was a genuine culture shock...

Usually at restaurants I wipe down the baby chair with a wet wipe just to be safe, but at Sushi Doku the baby chair was neatly wrapped in hygienic plastic wrap 😲👍🏻 I'd never seen this level of hygiene care before and was honestly moved... Just seeing this made me think I'd definitely be back! They also gave us proper baby-only tableware — the perfect place to go with a baby ♥

The interior was spotless too! Sometimes at poorly managed sushi restaurants there's a fishy smell, but this place was so clean haha. If you're a group of 5 or more you can be seated apart, and it's possible with a reservation haha. Watching the constant flow of delivery orders coming in while we ate, I thought — yep, this really is a famous Songdo restaurant!

What comes in the premium sushi set, and what it costs

What we ordered: Premium sushi set (2 servings): ₩51,800 (₩25,900 per person)

The restaurant was also running a Naver review event — a serving of otoro sushi worth a whopping ₩6,900, one per person, as a free gift! Couldn't pass that up haha

Soon the carefully arranged set menu came out, and the presentation and composition were fantastic ✨ The premium sushi set includes salmon, flounder, tuna belly, squid, red shrimp, sea bream, snow crab meat, sweet shrimp, eel, and ankimo (monkfish liver)

Plus salad, chawanmushi (steamed egg custard), udon, karaage (fried chicken) and shrimp tempura!

Staff who asked first about leaving shichimi out of the udon

Here I was moved once again by the staff's thoughtfulness... The udon that comes with the set normally has shichimi (Japanese chili pepper blend) and red pepper flakes in it, but seeing our baby, the staff asked first — if the baby might eat some too, should they leave the shichimi and red pepper flakes out of one bowl? 🥹 Thanks to that, we could confidently give our baby the udon broth without them!ㅠㅠㅠ

Our baby is still on a no-salt diet and had already eaten their own food, but the broth was mild and clean without being too strong, so I gave it as a little treat and they happily gulped it down haha. Without the spice it was a bit bland for us, but it was just the right seasoning for a baby! 👶🏻🥣

How the uni sushi and extra-long salmon sushi tasted

And the sushi quality was seriously unbelievable... 🍣🔥 The neat arrangement was amazing, and you could feel the freshness of each ingredient

The uni sushi... 🤤 The uni had zero fishy taste and was so creamy and nutty that I genuinely wanted to order 10 more just of that alone ㅠㅠ I desperately craved a cold beer with it!

At this quality and with this generous a spread, ₩25,900 per person felt almost unbelievable — it nailed both value for money and value for the heart!

Our baby can't eat sushi yet, so while looking at the menu I naturally glanced at the kids' set too. As we ate, Cheoni and I seriously debated when our baby would finally get to eat delicious sushi with us ㅋㅋㅋㅋ Can't wait for the day we can all eat sushi together 😋

As a salmon lover I tried to eat the salmon first but couldn't get it out; gave up and ate other pieces first — then out came an insanely long salmon sushi piece ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ So soft it just melted in my mouth and disappeared 🧡

Plum tea and mouthwash: the finishing details

On the way out after finishing our meal, I noticed they'd thoughtfully set out warm plum tea, which was perfect for a clean finish, and the counter had mouthwash, floss, and toothpicks all fully stocked! I was impressed by the attention to guests down to the very last detail ✨

Taste, price, hygiene, and service — Sushi Doku The Songdo was so satisfying it's hard to give it anything less than 5 out of 5! I'll definitely bring my in-laws here on their next visit 💖 If you're looking for a clean Japanese restaurant or sushi spot in Songdo to go with a baby, I highly recommend this place!!💗
