Group dinner for 5 at an Ansan Italian restaurant: That Man's Italian

In short

That Man's Italian Restaurant & Lounge is an Italian restaurant with private rooms on the 6th floor of the Dongwon Building in Jungang-dong, Ansan. A group of five booked a private room at That Man's Italian and shared five dishes — spicy chicken tomato spaghetti, seafood oil spaghetti, squid ink risotto, shrimp rosé risotto and wagyu steak — along with a candle surprise for a coworker's anniversary. The food was decent, but the separate room and the atmosphere were what stood out most.

A good-atmosphere meal in a private room at a restaurant in Jungang-dong, Ansan

I've been looking for a restaurant in Jungang-dong, Ansan where a group could eat together with a nice atmosphere, and That Man's Italian Restaurant & Lounge got a unanimous vote — so here's my review! I wanted to celebrate a close coworker's anniversary that day, so I was hoping for somewhere with a bit more atmosphere. Turns out they have a private room you can book exclusively, so I reserved it ahead of time and went.

We ordered five dishes total, tasting everything from pasta to risotto to steak. The food was solid, and personally the atmosphere and the room itself were what stayed with me!

The 6th-floor entrance: what the restaurant looks like

The moment I stepped out of the elevator, I let out a little 'whoa~' at the atmosphere. There was something green and fresh about it, but also clean and tidy.

Once inside, there was a garden-like space visible through the window. Even indoors, it didn't feel cramped at all, and at night the lighting made the atmosphere even better.

What the private room for 5 was like

The tables overall were neatly arranged, and rooms and seating were split along a corridor. We came as a group of five for a gathering in Ansan, so we'd booked a private room in advance.

Since the room was a fully separate space, we could talk without worrying about other tables — pretty comfortable for a group meal. In particular, there was white interior and one emotive large painting on the wall inside the room, giving it a clean yet quietly upscale feel — great for anyone looking for a room-style restaurant in Ansan.

What five of us ordered, and what it cost

We were five people that day, so we ordered five dishes total, including a steak.

  • Squid ink risotto ₩23,900
  • Shrimp rosé risotto ₩19,900
  • Spicy chicken tomato spaghetti ₩20,900
  • Seafood oil spaghetti ₩21,900
  • Wagyu steak ₩43,900

Rather than just ordering pasta and risotto, we added a steak too and shared everything around.

Table set with wine glasses and cutlery

The table already had wine glasses, plates, spoons, forks, and knives set out as standard.

Coin wet wipes prepared to match the headcount

The wet wipes came as coin-shaped tablets, prepped to match our headcount — add water and they puff up, ready to use right away.

Bread served one per person before the meal

And bread came out one per person before the meal. Crisp outside, soft inside — it tasted freshly baked from the oven, and it was surprisingly good for curbing hunger before the main dishes.

Five dishes of pasta and risotto laid out on the table

We ordered five dishes total that day, and personally my favorite was the spicy chicken tomato spaghetti. Let me run through quick notes on each one we tried!

Spicy chicken tomato spaghetti, 20,900 won

This was the dish our group cleared the fastest among everything we ordered. The tomato-sauce base had a slight kick of spice that kept it from feeling heavy, topped with grated cheese. The chicken pieces on top were thick, and gave good texture when eaten together with the noodles.

Seafood oil spaghetti, 21,900 won

Among the pasta spots in Jungang-dong, Ansan, this place does a good oil-based pasta — overall it had an oily base, and if you like aglio e olio-style pasta, this would go down well.

Squid ink risotto, 23,900 won

Whenever I go to a restaurant in Jungang-dong, Ansan, I tend to order squid ink risotto at least once, and this time was no exception. It was overall nutty and creamy, and the squid was chewy in a good way — decent taste. Ask for scissors when cutting the squid!

Wagyu steak, 43,900 won

The last dish out was the wagyu steak, which we asked to have cooked medium-rare. It was definitely tender with little toughness, making it easy to share around the table. The slices were a bit thin, but we each got two pieces, haha.

Can you do an anniversary candle surprise at That Man's Italian?

It also happened to be a close coworker's anniversary that day, so we had candles prepped ahead of time for a surprise. It was completely unexpected, so our coworker's reaction was great, and we all got to laugh through the meal together.

Being a place where small events like this are possible really stood out — it's more than just a meal, it's a restaurant with a nice atmosphere good for marking an occasion. If you're thinking about eating steak in Ansan while celebrating an anniversary or a special day somewhere with a good atmosphere, this place is worth considering.

Is That Man's Italian a good group dinner spot in Ansan?

What stood out to me about That Man's Italian, a restaurant in Jungang-dong, Ansan, was that it's not just about the food — you get to enjoy the space together, and most of all, being able to use a private room for a group of about five like ours was great.

When looking for a group gathering spot in Ansan, having a space where multiple people can talk comfortably really matters, and the separate private room made conversation over the meal easy. If you're looking for an anniversary or date spot in Ansan, this one's worth keeping in mind too~!

Overall, this visit wasn't so much about the menu itself as it was about everyone in the group being able to eat comfortably and mark an anniversary together — that's what made it a visit I really liked!
