After eating at Yetgoeul Sundubu, I headed up to Cafe Neorae in the same building. I knew it was a big café, but once the elevator opened on the 2nd floor, it was even more spacious than I expected. The interior was clean and pretty, but the first thing that caught my eye was the huge windows. The weather was great the day I visited, so Seoraksan and Ulsanbawi were crystal clear through the glass. The drink I ordered at Cafe Neorae was sua da. I usually just get iced americano wherever I go, but Neorae's signature menu items all looked so distinctive and delicious that I tried something new this time. Sua da is Vietnamese-style coffee with condensed milk, and honestly, not many places do it well. But here the espresso base was rich and strong, which paired really nicely with the condensed milk. It wasn't just sweet — the deep coffee flavor came through properly, and I enjoyed every sip.

True to the Haksapyeong tofu village setting, there were also unusual menu items like okara-based Neorae tea. It's not a typical café item, so I'd like to try it next time. If you're someone like me who always defaults to iced americano, this place is worth trying at least one signature drink.

I was already full from eating downstairs at Yetgoeul Sundubu, and I really thought I couldn't eat any more, but the bakery case was hard to walk past. My kids are picky eaters who won't touch anything that isn't good — but they ate well here.
