Gyeomson Donkatsu is the place I turn to whenever I'm craving katsu — I love it enough to have visited again and again and again. Personally, the sirloin katsu here is my favorite menu item. Gyeomson also runs a limited special sirloin katsu, but on this visit, both the sirloin katsu and the special sirloin katsu were sold out 🥲 So this time I ordered tenderloin katsu and cheese katsu instead — and they turned out to be delicious too. True to a dedicated katsu restaurant, the overall atmosphere is comfortable and easygoing for a meal. I visited on a weekday evening, and there were still quite a lot of customers, which made me think — yep, this place really is popular. Given how consistently busy it's been throughout my repeat visits, it seems to be a well-known katsu favorite in the area.

The cheese katsu uses sirloin loaded with plenty of cheese. The clean flavor of the sirloin paired well with the savory, rich cheese, and there was so much cheese that it felt really satisfying.

The tenderloin katsu had a great juicy, tender texture. You could really taste the clean, mild flavor unique to tenderloin, and it wasn't dry at all — soft and delicious.

The full set: rice, curry, and salad

The katsu doesn't come alone — it's served as a full set with rice, curry, and a refreshing salad, making the meal even more filling. The salad in particular was refreshing and paired nicely with the crispy, savory katsu, and dipping the rice in curry was also delicious.

With the main katsu plus rice, curry, and salad, it was such a filling, hearty meal! Thanks for the food today.

Why Gyeomson Donkatsu is worth a trip in Geomdan

This is a katsu place I personally love enough to visit again and again and again. It was a bit disappointing that my favorite sirloin katsu and the special sirloin katsu were both sold out this time, but I still enjoyed the tenderloin and cheese katsu. From the juicy, tender tenderloin to the cheese katsu loaded with melty cheese, everything was delicious, and with rice, curry, and a refreshing salad on the side, it made for a hearty, satisfying meal.

It's popular enough to draw a crowd even on weekday evenings, so I genuinely recommend it as a Geomdan katsu favorite!!! Next time, I'll have to visit before the sirloin katsu sells out so I can finally get my favorite dish :)
