Three-fish sashimi bibimbap for weekday lunch in Busan: Suseong Susan
In short
Suseong Susan is a mulhoe (cold raw fish soup) and sashimi bibimbap restaurant facing the sea in Sinho-dong, Gangseo, Busan. Arriving at 11:30am on a weekday, I ordered the three-fish combo sashimi bibimbap (halibut, spotted flounder, needlefish), which came as a full spread with the sashimi and vegetables in separate bowls, a whole abalone and beef seaweed soup. The tangy-sweet house chojang (vinegar-chili sauce) made the bowl good enough that Suseong Susan went straight into my saved maps.

Sashimi — one of my favorite things! I visited a place near Sinho-dong in Gangseo-gu, Busan, that's famous for its mulhoe (cold raw fish soup) and sashimi bibimbap.
Suseong Susan

Where is Suseong Susan, and what are its hours and parking?
Suseong Susan sits right on the water at 27 Sinhosandan1-ro 18beon-gil, Gangseo-gu, Busan. It's open 11:00–20:00 (last order 19:00), and on Mondays only until 15:00 (last order 14:00). For parking, there's a dedicated Suseong Susan lot right next to the restaurant.
Being right on the water, this felt like the perfect spot for a raw fish restaurant.

There's a dedicated lot, and roadside parking in front of the restaurant works too.

Before heading in, I checked out the sea 🚢 With boats passing by, it felt totally different from a beach view — like I'd traveled to a real fishing village.

Right as I walked in, I noticed the trademark registration and fishing license documents on display — you could feel how proud the owner is of this place.

Suseong Susan at 11:30am on a weekday: what Sinho-dong feels like
I went around 11:30am on a weekday, and the place was already packed. People kept coming in the whole time I was eating — I figured I'd found a real local favorite lol.

Suseong Susan's menu: mulhoe or sashimi bibimbap, and which fish to pick
Suseong Susan serves mulhoe from March to October, and amberjack from November to January. I love amberjack too, and theirs is wild-caught from their own fishing operation — sounds so good. Can't wait for winter to eat some ㅠㅠ

Right now they're serving mulhoe and sashimi bibimbap. Both come in four options depending on which fish you want.
- Three-fish combo (halibut, spotted flounder, needlefish)
- Half-and-half (halibut, spotted flounder)
- Halibut only
- Spotted flounder only
It's nice that you can order just the cut you want.

I bet anyone who visits Suseong Susan agonizes over mulhoe vs. sashimi bibimbap. I went back and forth too, but since it was a bit cool out, I figured sashimi bibimbap would be better. Cold mulhoe is probably the better call in peak summer, right?

While looking at the menu, I noticed they also sell abalone porridge as a side. Perfect if you're coming with kids who can't eat raw fish.

The sashimi bibimbap spread at Suseong Susan, with sashimi and vegetables served apart
The sashimi bibimbap arrives as a neat full spread. Unlike typical hoedeopbap (raw fish over rice), the sashimi and vegetables come in separate bowls so you can fully enjoy the freshness and texture of the fish on its own. First time I've seen a place serve the sashimi separately — really interesting!

Six banchan that felt like home cooking: seasoned mushrooms, stir-fried fish cake, abalone, acorn jelly, seasoned black beans, and radish kimchi.

A whole abalone, served intact 😋 It's blanched, so it's nice and chewy, and dipped in chojang it's genuinely a special treat 👏

Rice and seaweed soup too~ It's beef seaweed soup with a generous amount of beef, simmered for a long time so even the broth was delicious — I finished it all.

How fresh was the sashimi in the three-fish combo bibimbap?
The three-fish combo sashimi bibimbap I ordered comes with the sashimi served separately on a mini tray, and it looked so fresh and chewy. Since it's meant for bibimbap, they cut it into long strips, and the neat plating made it look even more appetizing!

The big bowl comes packed with crisp, fresh vegetables — perilla leaves, lettuce, cabbage, and seaweed flakes. So much veggie in there, I loved it haha.
Rice goes into the bowl, then the sashimi on top~

What Suseong Susan's house chojang tastes like
Then the chojang (vinegar-chili sauce) goes in! Suseong Susan's own chojang isn't overly sweet — just the right tangy-sweet kick to whet your appetite. The chojang alone is so good, there's no way the bibimbap could taste bad.

I added as much chojang as I wanted and mixed it all up — bright red. Just looking at it made me hungry 🥹

I took a big spoonful of rice, and wow — the sashimi was fresh and the seasoning was spot on 👍 It's been a while since I had sashimi bibimbap, and I felt so proud of my choice.

Would I go back to Suseong Susan?
The banchan were great, but the sashimi bibimbap itself was so good that I saved it to my Naver Map right away haha. Next time I'm in Gangseo-gu, I'm eating here again~ If you want a great bowl of sashimi bibimbap in Busan, I highly recommend Suseong Susan 🤍
