Third floor across from Bangi Market: take the elevator, not the stairs

I was meeting a friend and looking for a good Italian restaurant in Jamsil, and ended up at Allegro, tucked in an alley right across from Bangi Market.

It's on the 3rd floor of the building. I didn't realize there was an elevator, so I climbed the stairs.

The stairs have surprisingly high ceilings between floors, so I'd recommend just taking the elevator if you visit.

On the way up I noticed an outdoor terrace near the entrance. With the cool, pleasant weather lately, sitting at a terrace table would set a nice mood too. Since I'd booked ahead through Catch Table, I was seated right away without waiting.
Inside Allegro: black-toned interior and the jazz stage

The interior is neatly done in an all-black tone, with soft lighting that gives it a calm, upscale feel.

One corner has a dedicated performance stage set up with a keyboard, drums, and a mic.

Apparently Allegro runs jazz sets at set times. The vibe is great for dining while listening to live music. Just a heads-up — there's a separate per-person viewing fee if you want to catch a show.

The table had neatly arranged cutlery and a mini lamp. Whenever our water glasses were getting low, staff came by to refill them, which made the meal easy and comfortable.
Allegro menu and prices, plus the one-dish-per-person rule
Once seated, staff brought over a tablet for ordering. Browsing the tablet menu, there was a wide range of Italian dishes — mains, salads, pasta, and sides.

Mains included sous-vide pork steak (₩33,000) and pollo (₩34,000), plus appetizer-style dishes like white wine clam steam (₩32,000), melanzane (₩19,000), and cazuela gambas (₩21,000). Pasta options included mushroom cream potato gnocchi (₩24,000), puttanesca (₩19,000), and carbonara (₩19,000), and salads included arugula & lemon salad (₩10,000), feta citrus salad (₩18,000), and prosciutto potato salad (₩18,000). There were also plate dishes like piatto di formaggio (₩26,000) and abbattati misti (₩27,000), plus a good range of glass wines, beers, and other drinks. Heads-up: Allegro runs on a one-dish-per-person order rule, so keep that in mind when ordering!

I ordered three dishes: sous-vide pork steak, mushroom cream potato gnocchi, and prosciutto potato salad. Given the atmosphere and menu lineup, it seemed perfect for a gathering or a date. Check the attached menu photos for the full lineup and prices!
Bread service and the prosciutto potato salad

After ordering, they first brought out warm bread — a crusty baguette that wasn't hard, just pleasantly crisp, nice to start the meal with.

Not long after we started on the bread, the prosciutto potato salad arrived. Instead of the usual leafy greens, it was baby potatoes sitting on a bright, light cream sauce.
The sauce tasted like a mix of sour cream and olive oil — tangy and distinctive, and it paired really well with the potatoes. Raspberries and marinated cherry tomatoes tucked between the potatoes added a sweet-tart note, and it was also great spooned onto the bread.

Mushroom cream potato gnocchi and sous-vide pork steak
As we were finishing the salad, the mushroom cream potato gnocchi came out. The gnocchi dough was really chewy, crisp on the outside and moist inside — cooked just right. The mushroom cream sauce wasn't overpoweringly mushroomy, so it was easy to keep scooping up.
Inside were salty, thick chunks that felt like ham, adding just enough seasoning to the mild potato gnocchi so it never tasted bland.
The main, the sous-vide pork steak, came with fries and a truffle cream sauce.
Since I love truffle cream, I dipped both the fries and the steak in the sauce. Cooked sous-vide, the pork wasn't tough at all — it had a really tender texture. Overall the food was clean and well-balanced, and the calm atmosphere made for a satisfying meal.
If you're after a cozy, atmospheric spot, want to enjoy your meal with live music, or you're looking for a good Italian restaurant near Jamsil on the Bangi-dong side, I'd recommend Allegro!
