Why we chose Bueokgan for lunch near Hero Sports Park in Yangsan

We were trying to figure out where to take our kid on the weekend and decided it had been a while since we'd been to a kids' café. Hero Sports Park in Yangsan looked like a great place for the little one to play, so we decided to head to Yangsan and find lunch near the kids' café.

Searching for good Western food in Yangsan, Gyeongnam turned up Bueokgan Restaurant Yangsan Oslo Park Branch. It's close to Hero Sports Park, our destination for the day, and we'd had a great meal at another branch inside Shinsegae Outlet before, so we headed straight to the Oslo Park location without a second thought.

Today I'm introducing a great Western restaurant in Yangsan, Gyeongnam — Bueokgan Restaurant Yangsan Oslo Park Branch.

Bueokgan Restaurant Yangsan Oslo Park Branch is located in Mulgeum, Yangsan, close to Yangsan Pusan National University Hospital. There are a lot of apartment complexes nearby, so I imagine it's a convenient spot for people living in the area.

Parking at Oslo Park and how to find the restaurant

You can park in Oslo Park's dedicated lot and register your parking on the way out after eating. The lot was spacious enough that even on a weekend visit, parking was easy. After parking in Oslo Park's underground lot, we took the escalator up to the basement first floor, where Bueokgan Restaurant was right there — easy to find.

Inside Bueokgan Oslo Park: seating, atmosphere and baby gear

Stepping inside, the spacious, old-fashioned arched interior caught my eye right away.

They also had a variety of table sizes set up — 4-, 6-, and 8-person tables — so it looked like a great venue for all kinds of gatherings.

The vintage furniture and decor pieces scattered throughout gave the space an exotic feel.

Baby dishes and a high chair were ready and waiting, so it looked like a great place to bring little ones along. On the day I visited, there were a lot of families with young children too.

We ordered one basil pesto cream pasta, one Kung Pao chicken pilaf, and one pastry soup.

Our order — basil pesto cream pasta, Kung Pao chicken pilaf, and pastry soup — came out looking absolutely delicious at a glance.

Pastry soup, 10,000 won: smooth sweet pumpkin soup kids can eat

We ordered the pastry soup for our kid, who loves pumpkin soup.

It was nice that they gave us a small personal plate to portion it out. Inside the crispy pastry shell was smooth pumpkin soup, so it was a dish both adults and kids could enjoy. The pumpkin soup was so soft and smooth that I think even very young toddlers could eat it easily.

Kung Pao chicken pilaf, 22,000 won: Asian fried rice with sous-vide chicken thigh

Second up was Bueokgan Restaurant's recommended menu item, the Kung Pao chicken pilaf. An Asian-style fried rice topped with a hefty chicken thigh looked absolutely delicious.

The chicken thigh on top of the Kung Pao chicken pilaf is cooked sous-vide, so it was incredibly moist and tender. The tender chicken paired really well with the savory fried rice — a great combination. This too was a dish both kids and adults could enjoy.

Basil pesto cream pasta, 18,000 won: poached egg broken over arugula

The last dish was one I ordered because I wanted it myself — basil pesto cream pasta. Piled high with arugula over creamy basil pesto sauce pasta, it looked delicious just from the visual alone.

You break the poached egg first, then mix everything together nicely before eating. Combined with the arugula I love, the well-cooked pasta noodles and the soft, nutty basil pesto flavor grew richer with every bite — I couldn't stop reaching for it. If you're a fan of basil pesto cream pasta, I highly recommend giving this one a try.
