Anseong Gongdo brunch café for a 7pm family dinner: Chat Baker
In short
Chat Baker is a 500-pyeong brunch and bakery café on Seodong-daero in Gongdo, Anseong, Gyeonggi. Arriving close to 7pm with family, the writer ordered the tomato seafood pochet pasta (18,900 won) in the mild version, jambon truffle cream risotto (17,800 won) and cheese ciabatta (5,500 won), and dipping the ciabatta into the tomato sauce was the standout pairing. Bread choice was thin that late in the evening, but the meal and the space alone made the visit to Chat Baker worth it.

Chat Baker in Anseong

What kind of café is Chat Baker in Gongdo, Anseong?
Chat Baker is a 500-pyeong (about 1,650m²) brunch and bakery café on Seodong-daero in Gongdo, Anseong. I found it while looking for a large café in Anseong with a good variety of bread, and it's less a grab-a-coffee-and-go kind of place than a proper large café where you can enjoy bakery items, brunch, and dessert all at once.

A 500-pyeong aesthetic bakery café — I was curious even before walking in!
Chat Baker centers its operation around handmade bakery items baked in-house.

They reportedly bake over 80 types of bread fresh every morning, so bread lovers are bound to be dazzled the moment they walk in.

Is any bread left at Chat Baker if you arrive at 7pm?
They say the lineup includes salt bread, red bean butter croissants, cube toast, Gongju chestnut bread, cream bread, pain au chocolat, campagne, scones, and baguettes. But visiting close to 7pm, there wasn't much bread left, which was a bit disappointing.

What I liked most was that they don't skimp on ingredients — everything is made by hand, bread by bread.

Even the breads with fresh cream or house-made cream fillings are made in-house, which really shows the bakery café's dedication to bread.

They also sell house-baked cookies and other baked snacks.

And it's not just the bread — apparently the bases for their drinks are made in-house too. Vanilla syrup, lemon preserve, ginger preserve, fresh cream — all house-made, which made me look forward to the drinks even more.
Seating and atmosphere inside Chat Baker
Chat Baker's space itself was great — really spacious.

True to its 500-pyeong scale, the tables are spaced comfortably apart, and it's a good atmosphere for sitting quietly with a coffee. It works well whether you're solo and want to relax, or visiting with family or a bigger group without feeling cramped.
The window seats with a direct view of the sunset were especially nice. With a cup of coffee in front of you, it's the kind of spot that makes you want to linger.

What's on the brunch and dinner menu at Chat Baker
Chat Baker also offers a wide range of brunch items — truffle mushroom cream risotto, mentaiko shrimp oil pasta, tomato seafood pasta, and corn cream soup make up a fairly substantial meal menu. Even though it's café food, the plating and visuals come out polished, so it'd work well for a date too.

It also has an 'Excellent' food hygiene rating, which added to the trust factor.
Order: Tomato seafood pochet pasta (₩18,900) Jambon truffle cream risotto (₩17,800) Cheese ciabatta (₩5,500)

Since my family visited in the evening, it was dinner for us! (Brunch and dinner menus are the same.) Anyway, everything we ordered arrived.
Jambon truffle cream risotto, 17,800 won
A risotto with mushrooms and jambon (ham) in a thick, smooth truffle cream sauce. The rich, savory cream carries a subtle truffle aroma, and the soft, salty jambon becomes the flavor highlight.

Scooping the jambon and risotto together in one spoonful was especially good — the creaminess and saltiness pair well. There were also plenty of mushrooms, which I love, so I ate it very happily.

Tomato seafood pochet pasta, 18,900 won, ordered mild
A tomato-based pochet pasta loaded generously with seafood like shrimp and mussels.

The rich tomato sauce combined with the umami of the seafood gave it a tangy yet deep flavor, and the sauce coated the noodles well, making it satisfying to eat. We chose the mild spice option, and our child ate it happily too.

Cheese ciabatta, 5,500 won: dip it in the tomato sauce
The cheese ciabatta had a plain, chewy exterior with cheese baked inside, and it went well alongside the pasta or risotto.

Dipping it into the leftover tomato pasta sauce we'd ordered doubled the tangy, savory flavor. I really want to recommend eating it this way!!
Why Chat Baker works as a large café for families in Anseong
Chat Baker felt like a place to enjoy the space itself, not just the bakery and brunch.
With soft background music and a spacious layout, it felt less crowded and noisy, more like a relaxed place to spend time. (They apparently also host jazz performances, so if you're interested, book ahead through Naver Reservations.)
If you're looking for a large café in Anseong, or a spot to stop by while on a drive, it's worth a visit at least once. Parking is also plentiful within the 512 Square complex, so it's convenient if you're driving.
If you're looking for a bakery café around Anseong Gongdo, I'd recommend this one. Personally, with such a wide variety of bread, I want to try more of the bakery menu next time. The charm of Chat Baker seems to be that it's not just a coffee spot — you can enjoy house-made bread, house-made drink bases, brunch, dessert, and a spacious setting all in one place, at your own pace.
