When was my last color... two months ago? Almost three? My roots had grown out long, and because of a botched self-dye job before, parts of my hair were still dark in patches. It was bothering me because even if I got it done at a salon, it seemed like it would just end up patchy again.

I figured I needed to color it right away, and while looking around I thought it'd be nice to stop by before my schedule in Doan-dong — that's how I ended up at La Bridge Doan, a one-person salon. The reviews were good and I like one-person salons anyway, so I booked through Naver two days ahead and went! It's 100% reservation-only, so make sure you book before visiting.

TV mirror and iced tea: why the wait never drags at La Bridge Doan

The mirror at La Bridge Doan has a TV built in. Wait, a TV in the mirror?? YouTube plays right on it! So cool..! And it even has sound? Insanely cool, what a time to be alive. Sipping the iced tea the stylist made me while watching Netflix, the whole process flew by, not boring at all ෆ⸒⸒

Why a full level-5 color instead of a root touch-up?

Before starting the color properly, we had a quick consultation, and the stylist recommended a full level-5 color rather than just a root touch-up. I thought that sounded like a better idea too, so we went with it...

Dye that doesn't sting your eyes — and smells good too

The dye at La Bridge Doan is mixed with added scalp protectant and hair protectant. She applied it really carefully~ As she was applying it I noticed the scent was nice, so I asked, and she said it's because of the scalp and hair protectants mixed in — that's also why there's no eye stinging. Genuinely zero stinging or burning, which was such a relief :)

The stylist told me she's really sensitive to smells, and that cheap dye makes her fingers crack, which she hates — so she only picks the pricier products. She said probably fewer than 10 salons in Daejeon use them.

Inside a one-person hair salon in Doan-dong

Looking around the shop while my color processed~ Since La Bridge Doan is a one-person salon, the interior is on the smaller side, but it's clean and pretty. Nothing like the trendy salons you usually see these days, but honestly that made it more comfortable — a place that put me at ease. Out front there are lush green plants too, which made the shop look even prettier.

The shampoo with an infrared scalp massage device

One more thing as unusual as the TV mirror! At La Bridge Doan, shampoo isn't done with just hand massage — they use an infrared scalp vibration massage device. At first I just thought it felt extra refreshing, but then I noticed the warmth, warm yet cool at the same time~ and my scalp felt scrubbed super clean, extra refreshing~ pure bliss•••😇

On top of that, they only use eco-friendly shampoo products gentle enough for babies, she said, and it smelled great too, so the whole shampoo felt good the entire time :)

The finished chocolate brown: wedding-photo ready

Here's the finished look☺️ It used to be patchy and messy all over, but it got cleaned up completely into a chocolate brown tone — so neat. Apparently 'La Bridge' means 'connecting nature,' which is why they use eco-friendly products. Maybe that's why, but even after coloring my hair didn't feel damaged — if anything it felt softer and stronger?
