Daegu Indian restaurant with a private meetup table: Rama & Babana

I love curry 🍛 and I love dipping naan into Indian curry too, so I go on a meetup with friends every so often — today it's Rama & Babana, an Indian curry favorite! I used to come here back in college too, and it's been holding down the same spot for 10 years, a real neighborhood classic.

Where is Rama & Babana Dongseong-ro Main Branch, and when is it open?

Rama & Babana Dongseong-ro Main Branch is on the 2nd floor of Dongseong-ro's Tongsin-gil alley in Jung-gu, Daegu. Hours are Mon-Sun 11:30-21:30, with a break time from 15:00-16:30, last order at 20:30, and closed every Tuesday.

It's in Dongseong-ro's Tongsin-gil alley, close to Banwoldang Station, and even closer to the bus stop — I took the bus this time and it was only a 2-minute walk from the stop^^ If you're driving, paid parking is available at Geobuk Parking or Daeseong Parking in front of the store, just so you know 🚘

Head up the stairs and it's on the 2nd floor, with waiting chairs set up right in front of the entrance.

Best seat for a group meetup: the four-seat table behind the back wall

The quietest spot for conversation at Rama & Babana Dongseong-ro Main Branch is the 4-seat table furthest from the entrance, tucked behind a wall. All the seating runs along floor-to-ceiling windows for a great view while you eat, and there's separate group seating near the entrance.

I went on a weekday after the lunch peak so I could take photos comfortably, and since all the seats run along the windows, you get a great view while eating. I sat at the farthest table, tucked behind the wall, and it felt private, separated from the other tables — I'd really recommend this spot for a quiet meetup with friends. I hear people use Rama & Babana for meetups (matchmaking dates) a lot too, and I really liked this inner table for that; the entrance side has group seating, so it also looked good for larger groups.

There's a baby chair ready too 👶🏻, so moms bringing their babies can eat comfortably too ><

There's a clean restroom inside the store 🚻. Whether there's a restroom and how clean it is really matters to me, haha — I always check the restroom first when I visit a restaurant, hahaha.

Plates for two and water are set out 🍽️ — they gave us wet wipes too, so we could clean our hands before starting. Especially with curry, you tear off pieces of naan with your hands, so clean hands matter 🤌🏻

The menu we ordered at Rama & Babana that day: chicken curry ₩12,000, plain naan ₩4,000, nasi goreng ₩16,000, and tandoori cream chicken ₩14,000. The food came out fast, and we just snapped photos and dug in right away.

The dishes came out quickly, we took quick photos and dug right in — it was so good there was no time to put the spoon down.

Tandoori Cream Chicken (₩14,000) — this one! The sauce is so good, the chicken is moist, and it blends perfectly with the sauce. It'd be great as a beer snack too.

Nasi Goreng (₩16,000), my number-one 👑 dish — the coating wrapping the outside is chewy and delicious. If you're picking one rice dish, get this one, you won't regret it.

Chicken Curry + Naan (₩12,000 + ₩4,000) — naan is a must with curry ✔️ The naan is chewy and the curry is spicy in a way that adds real depth of flavor. If it had been just two of us, I would've ordered more naan, but I was stuffing myself and about to burst so I stopped. The curry is so, so good 🫶🏻

Is Rama & Babana worth it? Final verdict

The restaurant is spacious and clean, making it a great meetup spot, and I'd recommend it for dates too. If you want privacy, head all the way to the back from the entrance and grab the table behind the wall — perfect for quiet conversation. Every single dish is delicious, and curry with nasi goreng isn't optional, it's mandatory 🍛 You can eat without regret, so make sure to order it ⭐️
