The Taco Booth Ansan Gojan Branch is at 1F Unit 111, 56 Gwangdeokseo-ro, Danwon-gu, Ansan-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, in the line where the Nobrand store near the courthouse sits. It's tucked between Seoul Kkakdugi and an eyewear shop. Small, but the exterior really stands out.

I once stumbled across a location of this chain in Seoul while out and about — the vibe was so hip it caught my eye, and I went in with my kids and tried the tacos. Turns out The Taco Booth had opened a branch in Ansan too, and I'd been meaning to check it out. This time I finally went for a weekday lunch with a friend. I love tacos, and my friend doesn't usually go to taco places, so I thought it'd be fun to try something a bit different together.

Inside The Taco Booth: the mood of the dining room

Walking in, I immediately felt that signature hip Taco Booth atmosphere.

Even before the food arrived, I already felt like I was on a little trip. A foreign customer actually walked in while we were eating, which made the whole experience feel even more exotic.

and grab whatever tableware, sauces, napkins, wet wipes or plastic gloves you need from the self bar.

The disposable side plates especially caught my eye — bright red and pretty flashy. I kind of wanted to keep one, haha.

Basically, at The Taco Booth you pick a base — taco, burrito, or poke — then choose which meat or filling goes inside. The names felt a bit unfamiliar to me at first, but once you know what they mean, ordering becomes way easier.

We went with the Master's Choice Lunch Set: 1 poke + 2pcs birria tacos + 2 drinks + mini nacho chips (₩29,600). The poke can incur an extra charge depending on which one you pick. I wanted plenty of beef, so I chose the carne asada poke. At first I worried two tacos and one poke might not be quite enough for two people — that worry turned out to be completely unnecessary.

The mini nacho chips and drinks came out first. I went with Pepsi Zero Lime, and munching on the crunchy chips felt like a proper appetizer before the main event. My friend and I chatted away, picking at the chips one by one, until the rest of the food started arriving.

Birria tacos overflowing with cheese

🌮The birria tacos, overflowing with cheese — at first glance I thought, "huh, is it smaller than I expected?" But once I took a bite, they were absolutely packed inside. Loaded with meat, melted cheese threatening to spill out with every bite — the visual alone was impressive.

Crispy on the outside, rich meat and cheese blending together on the inside. A bit greasy, sure, but with a salty, slightly spicy kick that kept me reaching for more — genuinely addictive. It tasted much richer and heavier than a typical taco. My friend, who'd never really been to a proper taco place before, said it was delicious and different, and clearly enjoyed it.

Carne asada poke: how it tastes

The carne asada poke let us enjoy vegetables and meat all in one bowl. Loaded with a variety of vegetables, guacamole, and beef, it felt satisfying in a completely different way from the tacos. Eating rice along with the vegetables, rather than just meat, made it feel like a well-balanced meal.

The rice inside was already seasoned, and every grain was plump and springy.

Is the lunch set enough food for two people?

One Master's Choice Lunch Set left two adults completely full. I loved the birria tacos, but adding the poke on top made it feel like a proper meal. My initial worry about the portion being too small vanished completely — we were sooo full. A truly hearty lunch. It's a distinctly different kind of menu from the usual Korean or Western food, which makes it a great mood-changer for lunchtime.

The place is pretty enough that it'd suit an evening visit with friends over a beer too, not just lunch. We made do with a toast of cola instead, haha. Next time I'd like to try other menu items — there are still plenty I haven't tried, and if I come with a bigger group, ordering a variety of tacos to share sounds fun too.
