Almond chocolate financiers at Byway Bakers, a Uijeongbu bakery
In short
Byway Bakers Cheongsa Main Branch is a salt bread and financier bakery on Cheongsa-ro in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi. Arriving around 2pm, the writer picked up wakppu salt bread (peach yogurt), corn cheese salt bread, the new fig salt bread and an almond chocolate financier, and rated the corn cheese salt bread filling enough to replace a meal and the almond chocolate financier the best financier they had ever eaten. Even for someone who eats a lot of dessert, the financier lineup at Byway Bakers was the strongest recommendation.

Everyone's into the hot desserts and wakppu/mallangi trends on social media these days, right? From hanjeongseon yogurt chapssaltteok (yogurt-filled rice cake) to wakppu's squishy texture play, once you try them yourself the addictiveness makes total sense.
Today I'm writing an honest review of a salt bread and financier dessert spot in Uijeongbu where you get soft yogurt and fresh fruit inside, plus a fun crunchy wakppu-ball-like texture outside all at once — Byway Bakers Cheongsa Main Branch (바이웨이 베이커스 청사본점), located in Uijeongbu.

What does the Byway Bakers shop look like inside?
True to its reputation as one of Uijeongbu's top dessert spots, Byway Bakers Cheongsa Main Branch had a gorgeous exterior — cream-butter colored walls decorated with a refreshing orange door and a bench.

As a top dessert spot in Uijeongbu, the moment I stood in front of the door a sweet, refreshing dessert smell drifted out, and my heart was already fluttering before I even walked in! 🧡

Honestly, I'm a dessert nerd who's basically 'boss-cleared' every famous bakery near Uijeongbu and Yangju. I've been disappointed plenty of times when financiers or salt bread turned out too sweet or too greasy. After visiting so many places, my general impression was 'they're all pretty similar, fine as a safe gift.' So I walked into Byway Bakers expecting the same familiar, unremarkable financier and salt bread taste.

But my mind changed after visiting! Byway Bakers has its own special menu items, fillings packed to the brim, and financiers that are chewy, crispy, nutty, and salty all at once!

I visited Byway Bakers Cheongsa Main Branch around 2pm, and luckily there was exactly one of each fresh, hot new item left, so I quickly grabbed them for my basket.

Four picks and new items at Byway Bakers
1. Wakppu salt bread with peach yogurt 🍑

- Hanjeongseon yogurt chapssaltteok is really trending right now, but a yogurt-and-fruit combo inside salt bread!?
- It's a combo that could easily turn soggy, but they coated the outside with a thin, crisp chocolate shell that held its shape perfectly.
- After that crisp bite comes soft yogurt and sweet white peach — the combination was genuinely fresh and surprising.
Honestly, how could you not put on gloves and crack it open by hand? They say a whole white peach goes in, and the amount of fruit really surprised me. If you're a yogurt-and-fruit person, you have to try this one!
2. Corn cheese salt bread: filling enough for a meal 🌽🧀

- Bursting corn kernels + mozzarella cheese + sliced ham = a foolproof cheat-code combo!
- I visited before a meal looking for something filling, and as someone who loves sandwiches, this was the perfect pick. It's easy to eat on the go, and the flavor is familiar yet rich — I strongly recommend it as a meal substitute.

True to its reputation as a top salt bread spot in Uijeongbu, the salt bread itself was pleasantly nutty and salty with a chewy texture — genuinely perfect as a sandwich.
3. Fig salt bread, the new item

- A brand-new item, still hot off the press, not even listed on Naver's menu yet!
- Inside was something like a nutty pistachio cream, and the pairing with fig felt unfamiliar.
It's a dessert with not-too-sweet cream and a big chunk of fig — recommended for anyone looking for a different kind of experience!
4. Almond chocolate financier, the No. 2 bestseller 🍫

- A fantastic combo of once-roasted almonds + dark chocolate + salt
- I picked it up without any expectations and ended up finding my best-ever financier... it's not greasy or overly sweet at all!
- The moment it hits your mouth, the outside is crisp and the inside chewy, and as you chew, the nutty almond flavor spreads through your mouth. The bursts of salt in the middle were the best part.
- Overall, Byway Bakers' financiers feel like a textbook example of 'crisp + chewy + true flavor of the ingredients.'
If I had to pick just one thing, I'd strongly recommend the financier lineup, hands down! (The gift set was nicely put together too 🎁)
