Uijeongbu Gosan Korean BBQ with 144-hour aged beef and pork: Hanmaeum

Yesterday Hayul passed her Chinese character test, so my husband suggested we go out to dinner to celebrate haha. The kids were craving meat anyway, so we headed to Hanmaeum Butcher Restaurant Uijeongbu Gosan branch, a place our family visits often!

The reason we keep coming back here is simple — the place is clean, the meat is delicious, and there's a kids' zone the kids love. Eating out with kids usually means spending more time managing them than actually eating, but here there's a space for them to play so we can eat a little more at ease.

Right next to the banners is the restaurant entrance, so it's easy to find even on your first visit 😊 Step inside and the place is bigger than you'd expect!

Plenty of tables and private rooms too, so it's great for family meals as well as bigger gatherings or work dinners. Families eating with kids, like us, felt very comfortable in the atmosphere.

You order via kiosk, and we're so used to it by now from coming so often haha.

Ordering half beef + half pork with extra steamed egg and mukbap

What we ordered at Hanmaeum Butcher Gosan branch that day was half beef + half pork. On top of that we added a steamed egg for our second, Dayul, who loves it, and one more mukbap (acorn jelly noodles) for my husband, who loves that too. As soon as we ordered, the basic side dishes started arriving.

There's a good variety of side dishes and they're pretty much all tasty, so we started snacking before the meat even arrived haha. The doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) especially is amazing!

It has a savory, deep flavor that pairs perfectly with the meat, so my hand kept reaching for it. It's refillable too — just ask staff if you want more! And Hayul eats a ton of cucumbers whenever we come here haha. She seems to eat the cucumber salad better than usual every time, which always amazes me.

You can grab extra side dishes from the self-service bar, but the cucumber salad isn't there — just ask staff and they'll bring it out. And then, the steamed egg Dayul had been waiting for finally showed up!

Soft and fluffy in texture, with a bit of carrot on top, it looked appetizing too. Dayul loves steamed egg so much that her eyes lit up the moment it arrived!! Kids really can eat a whole meal with just steamed egg haha. Next let's try the mukbap my husband loves.

Mukbap comes as a default menu item, but my husband likes it so much we ordered an extra one. But wait... is this really just one extra order? The portion is unreal haha.

Even as an add-on, the portion was seriously generous. Tangy and refreshing, it's perfect to eat alongside the meat, and a bite of it clears your palate when things get too rich. Now I understand why my husband loves it so much haha.

How do the 144-hour aged beef and pork actually taste?

Now that the side dishes were set and the meat had arrived, it was time for the main event!!! 🔥🔥🔥

They grilled the beef first.

Maybe because it's aged raw meat, the texture is tender and juicy with that distinct deep flavor of aged meat. Taking one bite, the juices were still alive and the texture was soft — really good!

Dipped lightly in salt, you could really taste the meat's own natural flavor. Aged raw meat really is different, I thought. After enjoying the beef, we grilled the pork too.

The aged pork was grilled golden-brown on the outside and stayed moist inside, with great texture. Chewy, savory, and rich, my hand kept reaching for that too.

This time I made a proper wrap — lettuce, meat, ssamjang (dipping sauce), scallion shreds, garlic, and spring cabbage, all stacked in. Wraps aren't meant to be small, right. Pack it full for one big bite! 😂 With a mouthful like that, meat really does taste best wrapped haha. The kids ate so well too, which made this mom secretly proud.

There's real fun in grilling meat and saying that haha. Once the kids are full, they naturally head straight to the kids' zone.

And here's another reason we keep coming back — the spotless kids' zone!!!

It's kept clean enough that we feel comfortable letting the kids play freely. Our kids have been here enough times now that as soon as they finish eating, they head to the kids' zone on their own haha. Eat, play, eat, play... this might be the ultimate dining-out routine for kids 😂

While the kids played happily, my husband and I got to keep eating a bit more leisurely. Eating out with kids usually means feeling like you have to eat fast and leave, but having a kids' zone really does give you peace of mind.

They also have slush soju and draft beer, so you can enjoy whatever suits your taste!

The restaurant also has waiting chairs and baby chairs ready, making it convenient to visit with young children.
