Gangnam burger restaurant with kids: patty melt and wings at Daily Fix

Lately I've been craving a proper handmade burger in Gangnam, and that search led me to Daily Fix Gangnam Main Branch.

Where is Daily Fix Gangnam Main Branch, and what is the restaurant like?

Daily Fix Gangnam Main Branch is about a 5-minute walk from Gangnam Station, so it's easy to get to, and the exterior alone really caught my eye. Right in the middle of Gangnam, yet the moment you reach the entrance it feels like you've stepped into some burger shop in New York. If you're someone who's always hunting for the best Gangnam burger spots, the vibe alone will probably win you over.

We visited on a weekday evening, and even though the restaurant is bigger than expected, it was already quite full of customers. Seeing this many people on a weekday evening made me think it must already be a pretty well-known spot in Gangnam.

Both the exterior and interior have an overall hip vibe, making it a good place to visit with friends or even for a date. Since the space is fairly spacious, it wasn't uncomfortable at all eating there with a child, like we did.

Daily Fix menu: burgers, chicken and whiskey

Looking over the Daily Fix menu, it was much more varied than I expected. Beyond the main burgers, there's also a patty melt, side dishes like chicken and wings, and even whiskey — so it works well for a light meal or for having a drink alongside your burger in the evening.

I'd assumed a place known as a top Gangnam burger spot would only sell burgers, but the range of options was wide enough that it'd work well for a group visit too. Since we came with a child, we ordered the patty melt, bacon cheeseburger, and wings that day.

The patty melt: Hanwoo beef and caramelized onion on rye toast

Personally, the dish I was most curious about that day was the patty melt. Unlike a typical burger, it's a way to enjoy the rich juiciness and flavor of a burger in sandwich form.

A Hanwoo (Korean beef) patty and cheese are sandwiched between rye toast, topped with caramelized onion. On the first bite, you first get the rich, savory flavor of the patty, followed by the cheese melting smoothly in, and the sweetness of the caramelized onion paired really well with it. Using rye toast instead of a regular burger bun gave it a distinctive texture too, letting the patty and cheese flavors come through even more strongly.

If you love burgers but want to try something a bit different, I'd definitely recommend ordering the patty melt.

The bacon cheeseburger Kang Min-kyung is said to have raved about

The other dish we ordered was the bacon cheeseburger! I was curious about this one because I'd heard singer Kang Min-kyung raved about it. The bacon cheeseburger comes with handmade bacon and a 100% Hanwoo beef patty, and it reminded me once again that the patty is truly what makes or breaks a burger.

The rich, meaty flavor of the Hanwoo patty paired beautifully with the salty savoriness of the bacon, and with the cheese added on top, it felt like the textbook version of a great cheeseburger. Rather than piling on too many extra ingredients, it stayed focused on really bringing out the patty and bacon flavors, which I appreciated.

These days a lot of people are after hearty, well-made burgers like the ones featured by streamer Jjooyang, and I'd say Daily Fix is a place worth visiting if you're someone who loves a burger where the meat flavor really comes through.

Are the wings at Daily Fix spicy?

Burgers alone felt like it might not be quite enough, so we also ordered wings, and they were more satisfying than expected. They had a sweet yet slightly spicy flavor that kept us reaching for more. Especially after eating a rich, heavy burger, having a wing on the side made for a pretty great combination. If you're visiting with a child, it's worth checking the spice level before ordering.
