Today I want to introduce Gang Galbitang, a place I visit every so often in Seomyeon. It's the kind of spot that comes to mind whenever I need to eat in Seomyeon, and this day I wanted a solid, filling meal so I headed over.

Where is Gang Galbitang Seomyeon, and what are its hours and parking?

Gang Galbitang is located at 33 Saessak-ro, Busanjin-gu, Busan. Business hours are 09:20 - 21:00, with a break time from 15:00 - 17:00, and if you spend over ₩20,000 on your meal, they cover 30 minutes of parking.

On the main road next to Bujeon Market: how easy is it to find?

This Seomyeon gukbap (rice soup) spot for a Jeonpo lunch, Gang Galbitang, sits next to Bujeon Market on the main road by Yeongkwang Bookstore. It's an easy location to get to from Seomyeon, so I often stop by even when I have a lunch appointment nearby.

The interior overall had a clean, cozy vibe.

It's a comfortable atmosphere for solo diners too, so it would work well if you're looking for a place to eat lunch alone in Seomyeon. There are also table seats, so it's fine for visiting with friends, family, or coworkers.

Personally, I liked that it's the kind of place where you can drop in during lunch hour, enjoy a warm bowl of soup and rice, and head back out without any fuss.

There's also a tidy side dish corner, so you can comfortably refill anything you run out of.

They also sell boiled shank meat (arongsatae suyuk), which pairs nicely with the galbitang. It seems like a good order to share when visiting with a group, so I want to try it next time.

There were plenty of ribs in the bowl, so it was fun fishing out the meat piece by piece.

The broth was clean and worked well with rice, and with the meat too, it was more than enough for a lunch.

The free portion of medium noodles

There's one thing I quietly look forward to every time I visit, haha — the free serving of noodles! Being able to eat noodles along with the galbitang broth gives it a different feel from just eating rice.

The noodles are a bit thicker than somyeon (thin wheat noodles), more like jungmyeon (medium-thick noodles), which worked well with the broth. Fishing out the meat, then slurping down the noodles in the broth — that's when you really feel full!

Gang Galbitang apparently simmers its broth from fresh Korean beef bones boiled every morning. Maybe that's why the broth itself felt warm and rich.

Dipping the rice lightly into the broth and eating it with the meat is delicious, and eating the noodles in between made it even more filling.

Galbitang is the kind of dish that comes to mind not just on cold days, but any day you're craving something warm and soupy.
