Han River bike ride lunch: pork belly bossam set at Dangsan's Cheongun

In short

Cheongun Bossam Dangsan Branch is a bossam and Korean restaurant on Yangpyeong-ro 12-gil near Dangsan Station in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul. After finishing a Han River bike ride, the writer ordered the pork belly bossam set (ogyeop bossam jeongsik) and the squid seafood pancake: the pork belly cut had enough fat to stay moist rather than dry, and the pancake was crisp at the edges. With the full glass front thrown wide open, Cheongun Bossam feels like eating outdoors and makes a filling post-ride meal.

What food comes to mind when you want something filling because you're feeling hollowed out?

For me, the dish I end up craving surprisingly often is bossam (boiled pork wrap).

Do you like your bossam lean, all meat? Or do you prefer it with a bit of fat on it so it stays moist?

If you're in the moist-bossam camp, gather round — I'm reviewing Cheongun Bossam Dangsan Branch, a bossam restaurant near Dangsan Station!

Cheongun Bossam Dangsan Branch, a spot known for bossam near Dangsan Station, felt wonderfully open. As the weather cooled down, they'd thrown the entire glass front wide open.

The interior is already green with plants, and with the windows wide open too, the inside and outside blended naturally — it felt like sitting outdoors and unwinding while eating. A cool breeze plus delicious bossam? Made everything taste even better.

Cheongun Bossam Dangsan Branch, this bossam spot near Dangsan Station, has quite a few menu items. The signature dish is the pork belly bossam.

Next up was a spicy octopus set, and there was also spicy kalguksu (knife-cut noodles). Since we'd come hungry after a Han River bike ride and were craving meat, we ordered the pork belly bossam set.

Side dishes you refill yourself at Cheongun Bossam

Basic side dishes including bean sprouts and braised fish cake

The basic side dishes were seasoned bean sprouts, soy-braised fish cake, pickled onion, and cabbage kimchi. The portions might look small at first — don't worry!

You can serve yourself as much as you want! Though of course, only take as much as you'll actually eat, right?

Ordering the pork belly bossam set and squid seafood pancake

We ordered the pork belly bossam set and the squid seafood pancake. The bossam set came with rice, kimchi bean sprout soup, pork belly bossam, and seasoned dried radish.

Pork belly bossam set: moist meat thanks to the fat layer

Plate of pork belly bossam served with seasoned dried radish

Dipping the meat in salted shrimp and eating it with the seasoned dried radish was so good. Being a pork belly cut, it had more fat than other bossam I've had elsewhere. So even though it's bossam, it wasn't dry at all — it stayed moist.

If you're someone who likes moist bossam, I think you'll love the bossam at Cheongun Bossam Dangsan Branch, near Dangsan Station.

Squid seafood pancake: crisp edges and plump shrimp

Squid seafood pancake topped with shrimp and squid

Can you see the shrimp and squid piled on top of the pancake? Even at a glance, it was clearly loaded with toppings. The whole point of a pancake is crispiness. At Cheongun Bossam Dangsan Branch, the squid seafood pancake near Dangsan Station had beautifully crispy edges.

They cut it into big pizza-like slices with scissors. The reason for cutting it up is because it's crispy and has that chewy texture from the squid, so if you wolf it down bite after bite it'll disappear fast — better to pace yourself.

Crispy edges, plump bursting shrimp, plus the chewy squid on top. Dipping it in the sauce washed away all my post-workout fatigue. I was glad we'd come after the Han River ride.

Is Cheongun Bossam a good meal after a Han River bike ride?

Getting my protein in after the Han River ride, plus the pancake on top, made for a very satisfying meal. The overall side dish spread was clean and tidy too — this is a place I'd happily drop by whenever I'm in Dangsan craving bossam or Korean food. If you live nearby, give it a visit!
