Pyeongtaek lunch set of Jirisan black pork galbi: Okryeon Galbi
In short
Okryeon Galbi Pyeongtaek Main Branch is a Jirisan black pork galbi restaurant in Golden Tower in Bijeon-dong, Pyeongtaek. The new lunch special is a yuzu galbi set at 22,000 won per person, and for two people we chose one chilled mak-guksu (cold buckwheat noodles) and one perilla oil mak-guksu, then added a single serving of raw galbi. Staff grill everything over charcoal at the table and finish with a ginger lemon sorbet, which makes Okryeon Galbi an easy choice for both a family meal and a work dinner.

A Pyeongtaek Bijeon-dong pork galbi restaurant | Jirisan black pork galbi

Ever since a trip to Jeju Island, I've been completely obsessed with black pork. So when I heard there was a spot in Pyeongtaek serving black pork seasoned galbi, I headed straight to Okryeon Galbi.

They recently started lunch service and rolled out a new lunch special, so let me tell you about the feast of yuzu galbi, mak-guksu (cold buckwheat noodles), and raw galbi we had.

Parking was easy since floors 2 through 5 of Golden Tower are all parking, and if it's full, the Amano clock tower parking lot is just a 3-minute walk away. Make sure to bring your parking ticket after your meal — it's free for up to 2 hours.
Okryeon Galbi's exterior and seating inside Golden Tower

From the entrance, the tile-roof-style sign immediately caught my eye — such a Korean restaurant feel, haha.

Inside was a clean interior in reddish wood tones.

Even though it's a meat restaurant, the air felt fresh, and each table had a somewhat independent feel, making it comfortable to talk and eat.

It looked like a great spot for a family meal, a get-together with friends, or a work dinner.
Okryeon Galbi menu: what the 22,000-won yuzu galbi lunch set includes

Okryeon Galbi says they use black pork raised in the pristine Jirisan region.

The meat is supplied by World Makers, a company specializing in the distribution and processing of domestic pork and premium black pork, which gave me confidence in the quality and freshness.
Their signature dishes are Jirisan black pork yuzu seasoned galbi and raw galbi, along with black pork suyuk (boiled pork) and suyuk muchim (seasoned boiled pork). Sides include yuzu soy sauce egg rice, doenjang stew, kimchi stew, and mak-guksu (water, spicy mixed, or perilla oil).
We ordered two servings of the newly launched lunch special, the yuzu galbi set (₩22,000 each). Since you can choose doenjang stew or mak-guksu with the yuzu galbi, we picked one water mak-guksu and one perilla oil mak-guksu.
Side dishes and the yuzu dipping sauce

The side dishes were white kimchi, seasoned radish, pickled gungchae, potato salad, japchae (glass noodle stir-fry), and carrot salad. Each one was neat and clean, and they said all the ingredients used in the side dishes are domestic, and even the kimchi is made in-house. You could really feel the sincerity put into the food 👍🏻

The yuzu sauce had a subtle sweetness and savory depth from the yuzu that paired well with the black pork.
How does the Jirisan black pork yuzu marinated galbi taste?

The seasoned galbi finally arrived, and the thickness of the meat was on another level! It was thick, and the texture looked great even at a glance.
A staff member grilled it for us directly, so all we had to do was wait comfortably.

Finally dipped a piece in the yuzu sauce and took a bite — so, so good, ㅠㅠㅠ.

Unlike the sweet and salty seasoned galbi I usually eat, this sauce had a subtle sweetness from the yuzu.

The thick cuts of black pork had no gamy smell, were chewy yet tender, and the seasoning wasn't too strong, so you could really taste the meat itself.

Maybe it's because it's aged Chowol black pork, but the texture and flavor were both top-notch.

Adding a serving of raw galbi and dipping it in yuzu salt
After eating the seasoned galbi, I got curious about the raw galbi too, so we added a serving.

Just from the color, the raw meat looked amazing — really thick and looked so fresh.
They grilled it to just the right degree, and we tried dipping it lightly in the yuzu salt that came with it.
The juices burst out 😇 the tender, chewy texture was the best. Even though we'd already eaten the seasoned galbi first, the clean, savory flavor unique to raw galbi really came through.

Among all the raw pork galbi I've had, this one could easily be one of the best!!
Lunch set finishers: mak-guksu and ginger lemon sorbet
The dessert mak-guksu included in the lunch special also came out.

Especially the perilla oil mak-guksu that the owner strongly recommended! It looked delicious just by looking at it. They said they really use a generous amount of perilla oil, and the smell alone was different. It had a thick, savory, deep flavor — good enough to open a dedicated perilla oil mak-guksu shop. I totally understood why they recommended it.

The water mak-guksu was tangy and refreshing, perfect to eat alongside the meat. The two flavors were completely different, so it was great to share and try both.

After the meal, a ginger lemon sorbet came out for dessert. The bright, tangy-sweet lemon flavor with a subtle hint of ginger completely refreshed our palates. My mom loved it so much she said she wanted to try making it at home.
Is the Okryeon Galbi lunch set worth it? Final verdict
From the Jirisan black pork seasoned galbi with its subtle yuzu sweetness to the juicy raw galbi, the flavor and texture of the meat itself were incredibly satisfying. The staff were especially kind, and having them grill the meat perfectly for us made the whole meal comfortable.
The perilla oil mak-guksu and the ginger lemon sorbet at the end also left a lasting impression as sides and dessert. Next time, I definitely want to come back with my dad for a full family dinner. If you're looking for a great pork galbi restaurant in Pyeongtaek, or a spot for a gathering or work dinner, I highly recommend it! 😘
