Where is Jeongseong Katsu Chuncheon Hyoja Branch, and what are its hours?
Jeongseong Katsu Chuncheon Hyoja Branch is a tonkatsu place at 222 Seobudaeseong-ro, 1st floor, Chuncheon, Gangwon. Today I stopped by this Gangwon National University area favorite for lunch before heading to my café shift. My boyfriend and I used to drive by at night and go, 'whoa, that place is still open?!' — turns out they open really early too. Doesn't the exterior look clean, haha!???

I used the Dohwagol parking lot, about a 5-minute walk away. It's posted as free to use until January 2027.

Inside Jeongseong Katsu: seating and layout
The inside of Jeongseong Katsu Chuncheon Hyoja Branch is this clean! There are group tables and 2-4 person tables. Plenty of seating overall.

The kitchen isn't hidden away, you can see it from outside. That probably means they're careful about hygiene, haha!???

What's on the Jeongseong Katsu menu?
The katsu menu at Jeongseong Katsu Chuncheon Hyoja Branch is really varied. There's a mixed set where you can try several things, kimchi cheese nabe, and even katsu with a spicy sauce. The mixed katsu set comes with pork loin katsu, tenderloin katsu and fried shrimp, while the triple mixed katsu set swaps in cheese katsu instead of shrimp. You can also choose between the house sauce or a spicy one. There are also dishes you won't see elsewhere, like hamburg steak, sasami katsu (chicken tenderloin cutlet), and hangjeong katsu (pork neck cutlet).

There's also a cold buckwheat noodle set. Great for summer, right? Since it comes with a few pieces of katsu too, you get to enjoy two menu items in one — a nice option.

Really unique — they even have three kinds of pasta! Cream, garlic chipotle, and aglio e olio. Plus udon, buckwheat noodles, gyudon (beef rice bowl), curry rice bowl and more. Cold udon is a seasonal, summer-only item.

For sides there are cheese balls, buffalo wings, chicken karaage, and jumbo fried shrimp, plus drinks and alcohol. Alcohol is ₩4,000! Sounds like a good spot for a soju in the evening too.

Review event and Gangwon National University club discount
There's a Naver review event too — 1 review gets you a drink, 2 reviews get 2 pieces of sasami katsu, and 3 reviews get one cold buckwheat noodle dish. Members of Gangwon National University's central clubs also get a partnership perk: a mini buckwheat noodle dish per person who writes a review, so keep that in mind~

The table: triple set and pork cutlet curry rice bowl
I decided on the triple set and the pork cutlet curry rice bowl. Isn't this a hearty spread!???

The basic side dishes are sauce, stir-fried kimchi, and pickled radish and cucumber. Having stir-fried kimchi made it even tastier.

Everything came out looking neat. The salad dressing had a slightly tartar-sauce-like flavor — savory and delicious.
Can you see the juices!?? Made up of three parts — tenderloin, cheese, and pork loin — the portion was really generous. Jeongseong Katsu's batter has a clean feel to it. Anyway, can you see the juices???

Thick tenderloin and cheese katsu in the triple set
The soft tenderloin is delicious dipped in wasabi and sauce, and it also pairs well with just salt. Look at how thick it is!??

They also gave us curry sauce, so I dipped it in curry too — not sure if that came because of what my boyfriend ordered or if it's standard, but it was delicious either way.

The cheese katsu was this thick and packed full too. It spills out when you dip it in sauce~

I took a bite and the cheese stretched on and on without breaking.

Pork cutlet curry rice bowl piled with garlic flakes
Jeongseong Katsu Chuncheon Hyoja Branch's pork cutlet curry rice bowl comes topped generously with garlic flakes — it looked like almost a whole container's worth was sprinkled on. They soften into the sauce over time, so eat them early if you want them crispy!! You get to enjoy two different textures that way.
A whole fried egg sits on top along with pork loin katsu. Curry has to be mixed, right? So I stirred it all together thoroughly.

Is Jeongseong Katsu worth it for lunch near Gangwon National University?
The curry flavor was neither too strong nor too weak — just right. If you're wondering what to eat for lunch near Gangwon National University, I'd recommend visiting Jeongseong Katsu Hyoja Branch! Besides tonkatsu, there's a great variety of rice dishes and noodle dishes to enjoy too. Delivery is available too, and it seems like a popular spot with tons of orders coming in~
