Kid-friendly udon set lunch near Nambu Terminal: Baek Sojeong
In short
Baek Sojeong Nambu Bus Terminal is a Japanese soba and tonkatsu restaurant about 300m from Exit 6 of Nambu Bus Terminal Station in Seocho, Seoul. Instead of the signature soba, the writer ordered the shrimp tempura fish cake udon tonkatsu set, the special katsudon set, and a cheese hamburg steak, and found the mild udon broth a hit with her child. If you want to satisfy both a kid's menu and an adult's menu in one order, Baek Sojeong Nambu Bus Terminal's sets are the answer.

When you think of Baek Sojeong, cold soba or mazesoba (spicy mixed noodles) probably comes to mind first. I always thought of it as a soba place too, but this time I tried the udon and it was surprisingly delicious.
I went with my kid, and my kid ate the udon so well that if you're looking for somewhere to eat with a child near Nambu Terminal, I highly recommend it 👍🏻

It's mechanical parking inside the building, so we parked somewhere else and walked over. It's within easy walking distance from Nambu Bus Terminal Station, so it's convenient if you're coming by public transit.
A good spot for solo dining near Nambu Terminal
Maybe because it's near Nambu Terminal, there were quite a few people eating alone when I visited.

Lots of people just order a cold mémil (buckwheat noodles) or cold soba on its own, and the atmosphere is not awkward at all for eating solo.
But personally, I'm not a fan of ordering just one dish, haha. I prefer going with other people so we can order a bunch of things and try a little of everything.

One menu, many bites: the Baek Sojeong sets
So when I eat alone, picking just one dish always feels like a bit of a letdown — which is where the Baek Sojeong sets really won me over.

Soba or udon comes together with tonkatsu, salad, and sweetened condensed milk cheese rice cake all on one table, so even ordering a single item lets you try a bit of everything. And it's more filling than you'd expect.

That cheese-covered circle(?) in the middle is the cheese hamburg steak we ordered extra. But the portions were so generous we barely managed to eat it, haha, sob.

The set tonkatsu and sweetened condensed milk cheese rice cake
I didn't expect much from the tonkatsu that comes with the set compared to ordering it alone, but it was thick and delicious. Crispy outside, chunky and juicy inside — eating it with the udon made for a really filling meal.

And something that quietly stuck with me was the sweetened condensed milk cheese rice cake that comes with the set. It's fried cheese rice cake drizzled with condensed milk, chewy and sweet and delicious. You can eat it in the middle of the meal, but I saved it for last so it felt more like dessert, haha, which I liked even more.

The shrimp tempura fish cake udon my kid loved
I never expected to eat udon this good at Baek Sojeong. And as you can see from the photo, the udon looks a little strange in the picture.

Bloggers usually take photos the second the food arrives, but as an amateur I just grabbed the fish cake first, haha. The broth wasn't too strong-flavored but still tasty, and the noodles went down smoothly, so my kid ate it really well too. I ordered it for my kid but ended up eating it right along with them, so by the end it was unclear who it was actually for, haha.
Eating out with a kid narrows down the menu options quite a bit. We often end up going for grilled fish, tonkatsu, udon, or kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup), but Baek Sojeong had udon for the kid and soba or tonkatsu for the adults, which made it easy to find something for everyone. Being able to eat what the adults wanted while also covering the kid's meal was a pretty big plus.

Who this is for
I always thought of Baek Sojeong as a place for cold soba or mazesoba, but this time the udon was actually what stuck with me the most.
- Anyone who wants a generous variety even when eating alone
- Anyone who wants cold soba and tonkatsu together
- Anyone looking for a place to eat udon or tonkatsu with a kid
If you're looking for a good restaurant near Nambu Terminal, I recommend this one 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
