Mulwang Reservoir night-view dinner in Siheung: Bulhyangjip bulgogi
In short
Bulhyangjip Mulwang Lake Main Branch is a charcoal scallion bulgogi restaurant facing Mulwang Reservoir in Siheung, Gyeonggi. After a week of help around the house, the writer brought her mother back in the evening for 3 servings of charcoal scallion bulgogi, bibim noodles, countryside grandma doenjang jjigae and 2 bowls of rice, with the reservoir softly lit outside. The drive out at night is lovely, and her mother, who often skips dinner, ate heartily and left happy.

My mother worked so hard all week helping me out, often too busy to even eat a proper lunch, crouched down working all day long. Feeling so sorry for her, I wanted to treat her to a hearty dinner at least, so I took her back to a meat restaurant near Mulwang Reservoir. She loved it so much on our first visit last winter, and the side dishes suited her taste too, so I treated her to a nice dinner at Bulhyangjip Mulwang Lake Main Branch.

What does Mulwang Reservoir look like at night?
Bulhyangjip Mulwang Lake Main Branch sits right next to Mulwang Reservoir, so if you go in the evening you get the lake's night view too. I'd been many times at lunch, but this was my first evening visit — the night lighting was so soft and pretty. It's great for an evening drive course too, honestly the lake was just gorgeous.

I thought there'd be fewer customers at dinnertime, but surprisingly there were quite a lot. The parking area is spacious so it's easy to park. Free parking is available.

To introduce Bulhyangjip briefly — it was featured on SBS's Live Today on February 2, 2026, as a Mulwang Reservoir go-to spot. SBS's Delicious Way Home! A full spread of charcoal scallion bulgogi! The owner is so generous with portions — impressive.

We got to see the owner's fire show too — whoa, whoa, the flames were blazing so high, wasn't that hot? Suddenly I'm worried for him.

Inside Bulhyangjip: floor-seating room and baby chairs
The interior at Bulhyangjip is really spacious. There are lots of tables in the back and the walkways are wide, so it never feels cramped. Head toward the terrace and there's a spot where you can enjoy your meal with a natural view too.

Go into the room and there's a floor-seating table plus baby chairs, so families with little ones can eat comfortably.

Bulhyangjip menu and what we ordered that evening
Bulhyangjip's signature dishes are the charcoal scallion bulgogi (best-seller and signature dish), the charcoal gochujang bulgogi, and the charcoal-seared pork belly. Since I'd enjoyed these before, I ordered accordingly.
- Charcoal scallion bulgogi, 3 servings
- Bulhyangjip bibim noodles (spicy mixed noodles), 1 serving
- 2 bowls of rice
- 1 countryside grandma doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew)
- 2 drinks

Side dishes from the self-serve bar
The side dishes came out on a nostalgic silver tray — cabbage salad, seasoned bean sprouts, chwinamul (aster greens), pickled radish strips, kimchi, garlic, ssamjang (dipping paste), seasoning sauce, vegetables. You can comfortably grab more banchan from the self-serve bar anytime.

They're homemade side dishes made in-house, so the seasoning was spot on and even more delicious.

Charcoal scallion bulgogi for 3, buried under shredded scallions
The charcoal scallion bulgogi arrived. Wow — looking at it, you can totally see why it's called 'charcoal scallion' bulgogi haha. The meat sits underneath and a huge pile of scallion shreds is draped over it like a blanket.

It comes fully cooked, so you just toss it around a bit as you eat.

It's half meat, half scallion, lol. I actually like piling on tons of scallion shreds on purpose when I eat meat. Eating it together with the scallions cuts through the richness completely, so you end up eating even more. Delicious food is meant to be eaten in large amounts, lol.

Is there another restaurant that gives you this much scallion? The scallion fragrance was so good. It comes fully cooked, but I mixed in more scallion to add extra flavor. Being able to eat right away was so nice. Watching my mom and husband chatting about old times while eating warmly together made me think — I'm glad we came.

Now for the real deal — wrapped in vegetables. The meat isn't thick, so the seasoning soaked in well, and the seasoning wasn't overpowering at all, which I really liked.

Bulhyangjip bibim noodles instead of a bowl of rice
Remembering the bibim noodles I'd had before at Bulhyangjip, I ordered them instead of rice. The tangy-sweet broth is so good. It even tastes a bit like makguksu (buckwheat noodles)... anyway, you should try it. It's a flavor you won't get tired of, even if you order it again next visit.

The broth soaked well into the noodles too.

Eating it together with the meat is such a perfect match. The spicy, tangy broth adds savory depth and feels refreshing.

It's a flavor I'd crave even in winter.

Countryside grandma doenjang jjigae my mother wanted the recipe for
Bulhyangjip's countryside grandma doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) has a flavor somewhere between cheonggukjang (fermented soybean paste) and makjang (coarse soybean paste), and my mother absolutely loved it. She said she could easily finish one — no, two bowls of rice with just this alone, and kept wondering about the doenjang secret, going 'how did they make this?' over and over, haha.
After the meal, we finished off nicely with a cup of coffee too.

My mother, who often skips dinner, said she ate a hearty dinner for the first time in a while. It was another trip to Bulhyangjip with my mom.
