Pohang restaurant with a hammer bottle opener and 350g steak: Plan A
In short
Plan A Restaurant is an ocean-view Western restaurant on the 4th floor of a building right in front of Songdo Beach in Pohang, Gyeongbuk. On a last-minute trip taken on her husband's day off, the writer ordered a 350g hanwoo (Korean beef) sirloin steak for 49,000 won, shrimp rosé spaghetti for 16,000 won and a Stella and a Heineken at 6,000 won each, eating with the sea framed by floor-to-ceiling windows — the hammer-shaped bottle opener and the chopped shrimp in the pasta stood out most. With easy parking and baby chairs on hand, Plan A Restaurant is an easy pick on a trip day when Western food is calling.

Plan A Restaurant: an ocean-view spot right in front of Songdo Beach in Pohang
Plan A Restaurant is a Western restaurant on the 4th floor of a building directly across from Songdo Beach in Pohang. Hours are Mon–Sun 11:45–21:00, with a break time from 15:15–17:00, and it's closed every Tuesday.
My husband only gets about 2 days off a month ㅠ but last week he suddenly had a day free, so we rushed off on a Pohang trip! Since we were heading to the beach, I was leaning toward seafood for lunch, but then Western food suddenly started calling my name?ㅋㅋㅋ So I searched around for Western spots and found a restaurant right by the water. This is 'Plan A Restaurant.'
- ✔️ Hours: Mon–Sun 11:45–21:00
- Break time 15:15–17:00 (closed every Tuesday)
- 🚗 Parking: public lot behind the building

Where do you park? The free public lot behind the building
You can park at the free public lot right behind Plan A Restaurant. I care a lot about parking wherever I go! Having a free public lot made it easy to park and just walk right in.

Best of all, the lot is right in front of the restaurant, so there's no long walk and it's super easy to find ㅋㅋㅋ easy parking is the best... ˃̵ᴗ˂̵

Inside Plan A Restaurant: floor-to-ceiling sea views, cushions and blankets
Plan A Restaurant's floor-to-ceiling windows give you a full view of the sea, which is its real charm. The entrance has the hours and break time/last order info posted, worth a glance!
The moment I walked in, the first thing that caught my eye was the ocean view!! The floor-to-ceiling windows put the whole beach right in front of you ㅎㅎ of course, when you're on a seaside trip you can't miss a view like this ღ'ᴗ'ღ the weather was great too, so just knowing I'd be eating facing the ocean put me in a good mood the second I walked in!

There were lots of little decor pieces by the entrance too, and cushions and blankets were on hand for anyone who wanted them ㅎㅎ small touches like this really show the owner's sense of style!

The inside was bigger than I expected, and I liked that there were quite a lot of tables! Baby chairs were also available, and I spotted families eating with their babies.

What we ordered: 350g steak, shrimp rosé spaghetti and two beers
What we ordered at Plan A Restaurant: 350g hanwoo (Korean beef) sirloin steak for ₩49,000, shrimp rosé spaghetti for ₩16,000, and a Stella and Heineken at ₩6,000 each. It was kind of neat that the steak could be ordered by weight!!
We sat down and picked through the menu!
- Hanwoo sirloin steak 350g (49,000)
- Shrimp rosé spaghetti (16,000)
- Stella (6,000)
- Heineken (6,000)
That's what we ordered ㅎㅎㅎ

The Stella you open with a hammer-shaped bottle opener
My husband's Stella came out first!! The bottle opener was, of all things, a hammer..ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ isn't that just too cute?ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
A beer you open with a hammer ㅋㅋㅋㅋ it was so fun and cute I had to film it (?). I was driving, so I just watched my husband enjoy his beer, and seeing him sip it facing the sea made me a little envious ㅎㅎ

Shrimp rosé spaghetti, loaded with chopped shrimp as well
Plan A Restaurant's shrimp rosé spaghetti (₩16,000) comes with big shrimp plus finely chopped shrimp mixed in. I was worried the rosé sauce might be spicy, but it wasn't spicy at all and was very smooth.
The shrimp rosé spaghetti came out first!! This one was seriously amazing... you can tell how much shrimp is in there just from the photo, right?? 👀
Usually shrimp pasta comes with about 3 big shrimp, but here you get the big shrimp plus a ton of finely chopped shrimp mixed in too!!

I scooped a spoonful just to show how much shrimp was really packed in there ㅋㅋㅋ it's seriously a ton!! Since it's rosé pasta I worried it might be a little spicy, but it wasn't spicy at all and was smooth, so it was easy to eat without feeling any burden ㅎㅎ

350g hanwoo sirloin steak: whole grain mustard is the answer
The 350g hanwoo (Korean beef) sirloin steak is ₩49,000 and comes with mashed potatoes and dipping sauces like salt, whole grain mustard, and wasabi. Out of all the sauces, the combo of steak with whole grain mustard on top was the best.
And finally, the steak we'd been waiting for arrived ㅎㅎㅎ it came beautifully plated with mashed potatoes and sauces to go with it — salt, whole grain mustard, wasabi ㅎㅎ
It wasn't a special occasion, but since we'd come all the way to Pohang I wanted to treat myself, so I ordered the steak — and you really can't go wrong with meat ㅋㅋㅋ

Out of all the sauces, I liked it best with whole grain mustard on top ㅎㅎㅎ you still taste the meat itself, but the sharp tang of the mustard added to it kept it from feeling greasy — I just kept eating!

Being on a trip made it even better somehow — good food, an ocean view, and a relaxed chat with my husband that we hadn't had in a while ㅎㅎ
