Hyehwa pasta restaurant date with a 37,900-won Omil pasta set
In short
Omil Hyehwa Daehangno is a pasta and steak restaurant on Daemyeong-gil near Hyehwa Station in Jongno, Seoul. Revisiting the Hyehwa streets where they dated early on, the writer and her husband ordered the Omil pasta at 37,900 won, the rubber duck omurice at 16,900 won and the fan steak spicy risotto at 17,900 won. Omil is not a hushed pasta place but one where you can talk freely, so it suits both couples and families.

My husband and I used to date around Hyehwa a lot in the early days of our relationship, so it brought back memories. While looking for a pasta place that's good for a date and easy on the wallet, I came across Omil and decided to check it out.

Where is Omil Hyehwa Daehangno, and what are its hours?
Omil Hyehwa Daehangno is on the 2nd floor of 35 Daemyeong-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul, South Korea. It's open 11:30–21:15, with a break time from 15:15 to 16:30 and last order at 20:30. There's no parking lot, so you'll need to use a nearby public parking lot.

Why we chose Omil among the pasta restaurants in Hyehwa
Hyehwa is such a famous hangout and date spot — a holy land for the young, honestly — that most places you walk into are good, which makes it hard to decide where to go. My husband loves pasta and steak, but most pasta restaurants tend to have that hushed, blind-date kind of atmosphere. We wanted somewhere we could talk freely while eating, and Omil was exactly that!

Omil's self-service bar: beet pickles and a phone-charging corner
At Omil's self-service corner you grab your own water, napkins, and wet wipes, and there were also pickles made with beets. There's a spot next to it where you can charge your phone, so if you're in a pinch for battery, you can charge up right there.

How to order at Omil Hyehwa, and what's on the menu
There's a physical menu you can look at in the restaurant, but when we were seated, we found it convenient that you can tap your phone near the edge of the table or scan a tag photo, which pulls up the menu on your phone so you can order right away. Places with kiosks sometimes mean waiting for other people to finish ordering, but ordering easily from your seat with your phone was really nice!

For mains there's salmon steak gnocchi, spicy pollock roe pasta, seafood pasta, and fan steak spicy risotto, plus sides like soba maki (buckwheat noodle roll), corn fritters, and truffle fries. On top of that, there were several types of signature ades.

What the atmosphere is like inside Omil Hyehwa Daehangno
Omil turned out to be exactly the kind of comfortable spot I imagined for a relaxed date over dinner. I liked it enough that I'd want to come back with friends without a second thought.

While looking around, I spotted some storage boxes tucked away here and there — even they seemed to be smiling at me.

Omil pasta, 37,900 won: pasta with steak included
What we ordered was the Omil pasta for ₩37,900. It comes with fries, lightly cooked vegetables, and cherry tomatoes.

The bit of vegetables that came with it, the steak coated in sauce — it all came together so well, melting in your mouth, the kind of taste you keep craving the more you eat it.

Rubber duck omurice, 16,900 won, with a free duck toy
Omil's signature dish, the rubber duck omurice, is ₩16,900. There's a bit of salmon tucked inside the omurice, and it comes decorated so cute you almost feel bad eating it. A lot of families come here, and it's especially popular at tables with kids.

A rubber duck on summer vacation with its swim tube, and cute little ducks gathered on an island. The rubber duck that comes with the dish is actually yours to keep, so it made the meal even more fun.
Fan steak spicy risotto, 17,900 won
The fan steak spicy risotto is ₩17,900. It's made with fan steak beef and various vegetables stir-fried in chili oil — you can tell from the photo alone how intense it looks, right? I ordered it because I was suddenly craving something spicy.
Is Omil Hyehwa Daehangno worth it? Final verdict
- A great spot for family meals or dates
- Perfect for days you're craving affordable steak
It was such a satisfying meal that next time I'm on a date in Hyehwa, I'd love to try other menu items too ❤️
