I was looking for lunch in Gwangalli today and ended up at Extra Mile, which I liked the vibe of too. I wanted both pizza and pasta so I ordered both, and the space was cute enough that it was nice to eat slowly and chat.

Extra Mile is 461m from Exit 5 of Gwangan Station on Line 2, and it's just a 4–5 minute walk from the Gwangalli side too. The first thing I noticed when I arrived was the clean white exterior.

The walls are bright and clean overall, but the wood-toned door and brick steps add a warm feeling rather than a cold one. On a nice day you could probably get pretty exterior photos here too.

Stepping inside Extra Mile, the wood-toned interior continued, and with the soft lighting it felt comfortable. Sitting by the window especially, I could see green trees through the big glass, and my eyes naturally kept drifting outside during the meal.

When you're looking for a Western-style restaurant in Gwangalli, the food matters, but the atmosphere of the space matters a lot too, right? This place felt relaxed and good for a leisurely meal rather than loud or crowded.

Colored pencils on the table to pass the wait

On the table at Extra Mile there were colored pencils and paper set up for drawing. Instead of just sitting bored before the food arrived, we drew and colored together, and it was more fun than I expected haha

You don't need to be good at drawing to enjoy just doodling around. If you come here on a date, this kind of small detail will probably stick in your memory too.

What we ordered at Extra Mile: one pasta, one pizza

This time at Extra Mile we ordered bisque cream pasta and a hot pepperoni & potato pizza. We got one pasta and one pizza together and shared them between us.

Once the food arrived the table was completely full, so we spent a while just taking photos before actually digging in haha

We started with the bisque cream pasta. There were several big shrimp on top, so it looked delicious right away, and the sauce was well soaked into the noodles too.

On the first bite, the soft, savory cream came together with a seafood flavor from the shrimp. Eating the noodles together with the seaweed on top added a salty note and aroma that felt distinctive. The sauce wasn't too heavy — it blended well with the noodles, making it easy to alternate with bites of pizza.

Hot Pepperoni & Potato: two flavors on one pizza

And then the pizza I was most looking forward to that day — the Hot Pepperoni & Potato. It came half-and-half, so we got to try two flavors on one pizza.

The hot pepperoni side 🥓 had pepperoni and jalapeños on it, and a spicy kick rose up through the savory cheese that really grabbed the appetite. The jalapeños in particular cut down on the greasiness that cheese-heavy pizzas can have.

The potato side 🥔 had plenty of thinly sliced potato on top, plus crispy fried potato shreds added on. The soft potato and crunchy topping chewed together in a pretty fun texture, with a clean, savory flavor. The crust edge was baked golden — crispy outside and chewy inside.

If you're looking for pizza in Gwangalli, being able to get two flavors in one go like this was a nice point too.

House-made herb pickles and lime water

The house-made herb pickles served before the meal at Extra Mile had a crunchy texture with a subtle herb aroma that lightly reset the palate. Having one alongside the pizza or pasta felt refreshing and cut through the richness.

The lime water served alongside had a subtle, refreshing lime scent, and it was nice to sip between bites 🍋

Why the pasta and pizza combo is worth ordering

The pasta at Extra Mile is on the creamy side with shrimp flavor, while the pizza has spicy pepperoni on one side and clean potato on the other, so eating them together let us enjoy quite different flavors. Rather than sticking to one dish the whole time, switching back and forth kept things from getting boring right to the end.

So if you're visiting for lunch in Gwangalli as a pair, ordering one pizza and one pasta to share seems like a good idea.

Overall it was a place where the time spent in the space felt as comfortable as the food. With the green view outside the window and coloring to pass the time while waiting, it was better suited to lingering than to a quick in-and-out meal.
