Daegu bossam restaurant for hangjeongsal pork: Uldong Bossam
In short
Uldong Bossam is a bossam restaurant on Gyeongsanggamyeong-gil behind Daegu City Hall in Jung-gu, Daegu. I ordered generous-meat bossam and rice-bowl set meals, plus potato pancake, just after the break. Verdict: a revisit-worthy spot for flavorful hangjeongsal bossam and crisp potato pancake.

Uldong Bossam behind Daegu City Hall: location and information
The address is 1F, 279 Gyeongsanggamyeong-gil, Jung-gu, Daegu, South Korea (대구 중구 경상감영길 279 1층). It is open every day from 11:00 to 23:00, with a break from 15:00 to 16:30. There is an indoor shared restroom.
If you're looking for great bossam in Daegu, I totally recommend Uldong Bossam (울동보쌈) behind City Hall!! Just cross one crosswalk from Gyodong Street and you're there; it works for lunch or drinks in the evening! I'm a huge bossam fan, and I immediately understood why everyone talks about this place! I arrived right at 16:30 when the break ended, while it was still quiet :) It's directly behind City Hall on a main road, so it was super easy to find!

Parking isn't available, though, so I recommend using a nearby public lot or coming on foot.

With hours from 11:00 to 23:00, it was perfectly placed for either lunch or an evening drink :)
What is the atmosphere like inside Uldong Bossam in Gyodong?
The feeling changed completely the moment I stepped inside!

Rather than the usual bossam restaurant vibe, it had a Korean yet hip atmosphere that made the description of it as a Gyodong hot spot feel exactly right.

There was a kiosk at every table, which made ordering easy, and the indoor restroom was shared.

Can I come here for a meal alone?
There are dedicated single-person set meals, so you can eat alone without feeling awkward!

Ordering a bossam set and a rice-bowl set
Bossam is right there in the menu name as the main event, so I tried a single-person bossam set and a single-person rice-bowl set. I ordered both with extra meat, and the potato pancake seemed like a signature dish, so I added that too!

Before going, I wondered whether the two of us should order a medium bossam, but the individual sets came in different styles, so they were actually great for trying more variety! I think it would be nice for a light meal too :)

Hangjeongsal boiled pork with minari
Can hangjeongsal boiled pork really be this delicious?! We kept automatically saying, “Let's come back,” while eating, haha.

It was great to make one wrap with the bossam, museongchae (seasoned shredded radish), and minari (water celery). The fresh minari and well-seasoned museongchae went so well with the bossam ㅠㅠ Seriously delicious ㅠㅠ

The rice bowl had seasoned rice underneath, and once I poured on sesame oil, it felt just like bibimbap!

Following the owner's instructions, I ground sesame seeds into soy sauce and dipped the bossam in it. It wasn't salty and was so nutty, so please really try it this way ㅠㅠ

Why the potato pancake is a signature
Usually, only the edges of a gamjajeon (Korean potato pancake) are crisp, right? But this one was evenly crisp all over, and they grated plenty of cheese on top. With ketchup and soy sauce on the side, it was the best drinking snack ★★★★★

The doenjang-jjigae (soybean-paste stew) served alongside got a great reaction too! My husband said it tasted like the soybean-paste stew at a Korean barbecue restaurant and praised it so much, haha.

Who I recommend it for
- Anyone who wants a hearty set meal even when dining alone
- Anyone looking for a place for evening drinks near Gyodong or Dongseong-ro
- Anyone looking for a venue for a group work dinner
- Anyone looking for a filling lunch set

It is perfect for a filling meal at lunch and for a drink in the evening, so I think it would be satisfying whenever you go, regardless of the season! For me, this is a revisit-worthy bossam restaurant with a neat full spread and its signature potato pancake all covered. If you're in the Gyodong or Dongseong-ro area, do stop by!!
Tip: Parking is not available!!!
