Daegu café brunch that eats like a course: Dento’s open sandwiches

A Bongsan-dong brunch café, walkable from Banwoldang Station

Dento (덴토), a brunch café that recently opened on Bongsan-dong’s café street, is a place where you can enjoy five kinds of bite-sized open sandwiches like a course meal! It’s walkable from Banwoldang Station, so it was perfect for getting there by public transit. And there was something surprisingly fun about eating from the tomato one through to the truffle ricotta in order?! I’d only known it was newly open because it kept popping up all over Instagram, but I finally went today!

Since it’s close to Banwoldang Station, I took public transit. Truly the best move ★★★★★

There’s no parking here, apparently! Parking is generally a little difficult around Bongsan-dong, so I recommend using a nearby private or public lot and walking over.

The hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., so it’s nice for an early visit, or even for going out for a drink in the evening!

What is Dento’s interior like?

The exterior gives off such a hip vibe that I expected a cynical kind of atmosphere, but inside was actually warm and cute. Even the freestanding sign has that adorably tiny feel, haha.

The restroom is outside, in the building, and shared by men and women. It was kept clean, so it wasn’t inconvenient.

Disposable gloves, wet wipes, plates, and cutlery are all self-service!

Five signature open sandwiches

There are lots of menu items, but the open sandwiches seem to be the signature! I was curious because they’re arranged like a little course meal.

When I visited, there were five: pan con tomate, avocado salmon, romesco grilled vegetables, shrimp remoulade, and truffle ricotta. I think they change a little depending on the time!

They even guided us through the eating order, so I ate from the tomato through to the truffle ricotta—and I immediately understood why they told us to eat them in that order!

A brunch course with flavors that grow richer

I expected the tomato to be super tangy, but it was unexpectedly mild!! The flavors kept getting stronger as I went along, so it really did feel like a course meal?!

The avocado salmon goes without saying: the smoky aroma came through strongly, while the avocado was nicely ripe and creamy.

The romesco grilled vegetables had salty grilled mushrooms and broccoli with a clear charred flavor, and the sauce was completely my taste 🖤

At first I didn’t even realize the shrimp remoulade was shrimp, but the moment I bit into it, the springy texture was no joke ㅠㅠ This was seriously amazing!

The final truffle ricotta had the boldest aroma and flavor; I could tell it was truffle just by bringing it close to my nose. Everything was so neat and delicious that one plate disappeared in no time ㅠㅠ

It feels cute and bright during the day, but I think it would have a totally different atmosphere in the evening thanks to the lighting, so next time I’m going to visit with my husband for dinner too! I’m so happy a brunch café like this opened in Bongsan-dong! To me, it’s a neat, adorable course-style brunch. If you’re near Banwoldang, stop by sometime!

Tip. There is no parking! Walking is recommended.
