A new brunch café on Bongsan-dong’s café street
There are so many cafés tucked into every alley of Bongsan-dong’s café street. I heard a new one had opened, so I went for brunch^^ Dento (덴토), a great brunch spot near Banwoldang in Daegu.

First off, the exterior’s color palette was totally my taste♡ I loved the clean yet warm tones, and the greenery right from the entrance won me over.

Five bite-size open sandwiches and drinks
While looking over the menu, the “five bite-size open sandwiches” caught my eye because of the unusual name. I asked about them, and they told me it was a menu of five sandwiches with different toppings, made to pop into your mouth in one bite. Such a clever idea~ I don’t think I’d seen this style before, so I ordered it! We also ordered the grilled shrimp sandwich & mini salad + drip coffee. I was a little disappointed that drip coffee was the only coffee option, but I thought it would be nice and clean alongside the sandwiches.

They have drip coffee, tea, ades, and juice, as well as beer and wine. I thought it would be nice for a light drink while chatting, too.

A space with fresh flowers and plants
After ordering, I looked around the café, and my favorite point was the fresh flowers.

I love lush green plants, but whenever there are fresh flowers in a space, the atmosphere is lovely and it just feels so alive. The neatly arranged cutlery was also so nice.

There are tables for two to four people, but rather than simply lining up identical tables, each seat had a slightly different mood. It was fun to look at the interior, too.

Five toppings to enjoy in one bite
Our order is here~ How cute are these bite-size open sandwiches?♡ They really are petite enough to pop into your mouth in one bite, and with all five lined up, they were pretty, adorable, everything haha. They kindly explained them to us, so I tried them one by one in order.
- Pan con tomate — The tomato’s tangy freshness woke up my appetite from the first bite. It felt like an appetizer in a course meal.
- Avocado salmon — It was slightly salty, but that seasoning actually went really well with the salmon.

- Romesco roasted vegetables — This was seriously delicious ⬆️ To be honest, I’m not that into vegetables haha. But popping it all into my mouth at once, the aroma and flavor of every ingredient, starting with the mushrooms, really came through. I enjoyed it so much.
- Shrimp rémoulade — The shrimp on top was wonderfully springy, with great texture and flavor.
- Truffle ricotta — This was absolutely delicious. It felt like eating a richly concentrated cream-pasta sauce on top, and I loved the subtle flavor that lingered afterward.
I think this menu’s biggest charm is that the five different toppings let you try a little of several flavors. You order one dish, but get the fun of choosing among five flavors—such a great idea. It feels like it could be Dento’s signature menu, and I recommend it for anyone visiting alone, not eating a huge amount, or wanting to try a range of flavors.

The light and savory grilled shrimp sandwich
We also ordered the grilled shrimp sandwich & mini salad. The café had disposable gloves, so I put them on and enjoyed it. My companion saw them there but didn’t realize they were gloves haha.

The sandwich had carrot râpée and a shrimp patty. It wasn’t salty; it was light, savory, and delicious. The mini salad alongside it had arugula, tomatoes, and olive oil, making it fresh and easy to eat. With its overall warm atmosphere, fresh flowers, and greenery throughout, it felt like a lovely space to linger over brunch and chat. I recommend Dento, a great brunch spot near Banwoldang, when you want to enjoy a slightly special brunch^^
