Moana Burger is a handmade burger restaurant at 228-33 Nanseolheon-ro, Gangneung-si, close to both Gangmun Beach and Gyeongpo Beach. It's near a lot of the spots people visit during a Gangneung trip, so the accessibility was great.

It's a good spot to stop by after checking out the beach, or to eat a filling burger first and explore around afterward. It can close early if ingredients run out, so I'd recommend reserving or checking ahead before visiting!

Parking out front and the look of Moana Burger

Moana Burger has a parking space set up right in front of the store, plus plenty of street parking nearby, so parking wasn't difficult at all.

The moment I stepped inside, I felt this emotional yet hip vibe. The overall interior and atmosphere matched a beachside burger joint really well~

The open layout also meant it never felt stuffy — there was a refreshing sense of openness. Eating there felt like being on vacation, which fit the Gangneung trip mood really well.

The little props on the table are so cute haha. Forks, knives, and sauces are all set out too.

Yeoreum the golden retriever: bringing your dog to Moana Burger

Moana Burger also has the cutest golden retriever, Yeoreum! At first she was so calm I wondered if she just wasn't that interested in people~

But when I went up to her first, she immediately rolled over and showed her belly, all charming haha. If you love cute dogs, just watching Yeoreum alone will make your visit a happy one, like it did for me!

As a pet-friendly Gangneung restaurant, there's even a separate hook to tie up a leash, and the restroom was clean too!

Besides the handmade burgers, Moana Burger has a few simple menu items and seemed like a nice spot for a casual beer too. There's a ₩2,000 discount on draft beer when you order a burger.

What we ordered at Moana Burger

Ordering the set gets you a burger with fries together. We ordered the basic Moana Burger and the double burger, one of each, to compare the two.

How does the Moana Burger (14,000 won) taste?

The Moana Burger (14.0) had a glossy, appetizing bun with a thick meat patty, cheese, and vegetables stacked inside — it looked pretty hearty. The first thing I noticed after a bite was how moist the patty was.

The patty was thick enough that you could really feel the texture of the meat and its strong aroma, which I liked~ It stayed moist with juice all the way through, so it was tasty to the last bite.

The bun had a rich, buttery flavor that made everything taste fuller together with the patty. It was well seasoned with a nice saltiness — really tasty!

Moana Double Burger (17,000 won) vs the regular burger

The Moana Double Burger (17.0) is exactly what it looks like in photos — thick patties layered on top of each other, stacked so high it's hard to eat in one bite~ The visual alone was mouthwatering.

The basic Moana Burger already had plenty of patty presence, but the double definitely delivered a stronger meaty flavor. Every bite had juicy moisture and a deeper, cleaner meat flavor that came through even more~

What I really liked was that this wasn't a burger you eat for the sauce — the flavor of the meat itself really came through. With that much juice and patty flavor, it never felt bland even without sauce.

It's as filling as it looks, so if you're hunting for handmade burgers in Gangneung and love a burger with a strong meaty flavor, I'd recommend the Moana Double Burger too.

Set fries and the hairpin gift

The fries that came with the set were more satisfying than I expected. They came out freshly fried and warm, crisp on the outside with a strong potato flavor inside.

They weren't too thin, more on the thick side, and the seasoning wasn't overly salty — just right. Great fries. They paired well with the burger when I grabbed one in between bites, and the portion was generous enough to feel filling.

What stuck with me was that they gave us a hair pin that matched the beach vibe — cuter than I expected, and perfect as an accent for the rest of the Gangneung trip. That kind of small touch made it feel like getting a little gift, which put me in a good mood.

Is Moana Burger in Gangneung worth a visit?

Moana Burger delivered thick, moist patties alongside a bun with rich buttery flavor, which made for a satisfying meal at this Gangneung restaurant. The friendly, emotional atmosphere of the store and adorable Yeoreum stuck with me too, wrapping up the meal on a happy note.
