Yongsan pork cutlet restaurant with window bar seats: Onjeong

I recently visited a classic restaurant near Hyochang Park in Yongsan. I've always loved that distinctly crispy-yet-moist texture of Western-style (gyeongyang-sik) pork cutlet, and Onjeong Gyeongyang Sikdang's Yongsan branch nailed exactly that!

The menu signage on the storefront windows and entrance is so clear it got my mouth watering before I even walked in. You'd expect an old-school gyeongyang-sik place to feel a bit dated, but this spot is super trendy and clean like a café.

Window bar seats and the self bar: easy for solo diners

Stepping inside Yongsan Donkatsu Onjeong Gyeongyang Sikdang, the wood tones and warm decor make it feel really cozy. There's a nice window bar table too, so nearby office workers or anyone dining alone can enjoy a stress-free solo lunch in Yongsan.

The self bar area is also neatly organized with clear origin labeling, so it felt reassuringly hygienic!

Looking at the menu, the lineup is solid — from the classic signature to a spicy option to a set that practically demands slurping noodles.

What comes with the classic gyeongyang-sik pork cutlet?

I ordered the classic gyeongyang-sik donkatsu and the cold soba and spicy donkatsu set. Everything came out neatly arranged on trays, complete with the nostalgic soup and morning bread — a perfect setup.

The classic donkatsu came drenched in sauce but somehow stayed crispy all the way through without turning soggy — I was genuinely impressed. This earns its reputation as a top Yongsan pork cutlet spot.

And look at the thickness of the meat when I picked it up with my fork! It's not just a thick breading — the meat inside is substantial too, so the bite is seriously satisfying.

The morning bread that came with it is best slathered in strawberry jam and dipped into the soup — pure old-school gyeongyang-sik nostalgia, you know?

How do the cold soba and spicy pork cutlet set taste?

And then the cold soba and spicy donkatsu set I also ordered! A bite of the cool cold soba topped with icy shavings, then a bite of the sweet-spicy donkatsu —

The spicy donkatsu isn't the artificial, capsaicin-style burn — it's a deliciously spicy flavor that kept pulling me back for more.

Alternating between the cool soba and the spicy donkatsu, I emptied both bowls in what felt like no time at all... oops, I mean I finished them. Now I totally get why this place is known as a top donkatsu restaurant near Hyochang Park.

The atmosphere was clean, the staff were kind, and above all, both the main donkatsu and the soba were delicious — a perfect lunch. I think I'll be back often whenever I want a clean, satisfying meal nearby!
