Matte brown dye to cancel red tones at Arish, a Hapjeong hair salon

I visited Arish Hapjeong Muse Hair Salon to get a matte brown color before a trip to China, so I could take pretty photos, and I got a ton of great shots! Let's get into the detailed review.

Arish Hapjeong Muse Hair Salon is a 1-minute walk from Hapjeong Station Exit 4!! It's close to the subway, but on your first visit the entrance can be hard to spot — just look for the elevator inside the gray building and get off on the 3rd floor!

What is the salon like inside?

Muse means a source of inspiration, and apparently it's meant to represent a space where each person becomes their own muse, discovering their own beauty and color! Walking in, the interior was bright and relaxed, designed so you can get your treatment at ease^^

It hadn't even been a month since they opened, apparently — I filmed the interior on video, so click if you're curious! I visited after work and there were already a lot of customers, so I filmed it on my way out after finishing my color treatment!

Most salons offer coffee, but Arish serves cold canned drinks instead for cleanliness and hygiene! You can choose from water, iced tea, cola, sparkling water, orange juice, or Jetti (chocolate malt drink), and since it was evening and I was hungry, they also gave me a bunch of my favorite snacks — I was so happy!

Before: long hair turning red six months after coloring

My hair is on the longer side, so I alternate between dyeing and perming, and it had already been over 6 months since my last dye job! I don't like it when the color fades into a reddish tone, so after consulting with designer Cherry, we decided on matte brown!

I found out later that Arish Hapjeong Muse Hair Salon can cover gray hair and dye at the same time, haha? Doing both at once makes the overall color darker, but black looks good on me too, so next time I'm thinking of getting both done together! *^^*

How the matte brown dye was applied, step by step

At this Hongdae-area salon, designer Cherry put ear covers on me so the dye wouldn't get in, then sprayed a scalp protectant before carefully applying the dye!

My scalp is a bit sensitive, and the Milbon dye stung a little at first, but it was fine once some time passed~!

Dyeing doesn't take too long once the color is applied and you're just waiting to rinse it out — I hadn't slept much because I was busy prepping for my trip, so lying there in that super comfy chair, I was so sleepy! Haha

Designer Cherry gave me a scalp massage too, and it felt so good I wanted to say 'please keep going~' but since they close at 8, I had to leave that regret behind haha — I asked her to trim my fringe too, and she tidied it up beautifully!

After: how the matte brown color turned out

Dyeing often damages hair, but mine came out silky and glossy, with an even more feminine vibe — thank you so, so much!
