After a lovely trip through Jeolla-do, on the drive back up to Seoul my body is dead tired, but part of me always craves something delicious as a reward.

Everyone else is probably grabbing rest-stop snacks on the highway to Seoul or rushing straight home, but I always have a favorite spot I stop by, like my own special mill on the way.

This time too, without fail, I stopped by and properly recharged with sweet drinks and delicious food.

After a full trip through Jeolla-do, the place my feet always head toward on the way back to Seoul is Geurimseu, a Cheonan brunch café. It's easy to access right off the highway, and best of all, it has a spacious, convenient parking area, so even when I'm exhausted from driving I can visit comfortably without any parking stress — that's a real advantage.

Sitting by the window where warm sunlight streams in, enjoying a delicious brunch while flipping through a book, the fatigue of the trip somehow clears away and I feel refilled with new energy.

A full rest in a space this full of feeling might really be the true final period at the end of a trip.

What fills the bakery showcase at Geurimseu Cafe

Beyond drinks and the main dishes, Geurimseu Cafe lives up to its reputation as a Cheonan bakery, showing off a really wide range of baked goods. Just looking at the mouth-watering bread filling the showcase is enough to make you happy, and each loaf has its own charm, so picking one is half the fun.

Myeongnan oil pasta and butter latte: sweet-and-salty done right

On this visit I decided to properly enjoy Geurimseu's signature menu items, a bit more special than usual. Among the many drink options, I ordered the standout signature butter latte along with the hearty myeongnan oil pasta, and settled in.

The combination of oil pasta and a sweet latte might sound a bit unusual, but it's secretly a fantastic match — I kept sighing in admiration the whole time I was eating.

After cleanly finishing a bite of the salty, umami-packed myeongnan oil pasta and following it with a sip of the smooth, rich butter latte, you get to taste the textbook definition of sweet-and-salty. Every time I come I think about trying something new, but I end up falling right back into this signature combo's charm and can't escape it.

If you visit this place, I really hope you try this combination of two menu items at least once.

The garden-like outdoor terrace at Geurimseu Cafe

Beyond the indoor space, Geurimseu, this Cheonan brunch café, is beautifully done up outside too, with enough charm to hold visitors' attention. The well-kept, garden-like outdoor seating gives off a lush, green atmosphere, making it a perfect spot to sit on the outdoor terrace and relax on a nice day.

A cup of coffee sipped in the sunlight on the outdoor terrace on a bright day is truly a small, certain happiness and healing in itself. Photos come out beautifully too, so I think there's no better spot for capturing that Instagram-worthy shot. Thanks to this range of charms — the coziness inside and the freshness outside all at once — I end up stopping by here like a sparrow at the mill every time I come back from a Jeolla-do trip.
