We went to Jeongwon Galbi for a family dinner, and it's a real Gwangju gem! Everyone ate well and left completely full. Parking was easy, the seating across two floors was spacious, and it's a great-value pork galbi place I'd confidently recommend for a family meal out.
I had pork galbi, but this Gwangju favorite actually serves a wide range of delicious meats beyond pork galbi — hanwoo (Korean beef), idong galbi, and flower galbi too.

This Gwangju restaurant sits across from the Woorim Pilyu Apartments in Songjeong-dong. There's a wide parking lot both in front of and behind the restaurant, so you can visit without worrying about parking at all.

Walking in at 7:20pm on a Friday: was there a wait?
Even with a spacious two-floor hall, this place is popular enough to have waits, so I'd recommend booking through Naver Reservation if you're planning a visit. We walked in around 7:20pm on a Friday and luckily got seated with no wait at all.

Here's the vibe inside~~~! The tables are all pretty separated from each other, so it never felt crowded — we could just focus on the meal.
On top of that, the second floor has private rooms like these, which look perfect for group visits. With plenty of capacity, it's a great Gwangju spot for family gatherings, group meetups, and company dinners alike.
The Jeongwon Galbi menu and what four of us ordered

Here's the Jeongwon Galbi menu. It's packed with great-value options — hanwoo, beef, pork, rice dishes and more. The four of us went with the Jeongwon seasoned galbi platter, cheoldol doenjang sulbap, and naengmyeon for dessert.

Free side dishes with yangnyeom gejang, plus the self-serve bar
Then the table filled up with side dishes! All kinds of banchan that pair well with meat showed up, plus fresh lettuce wraps on the side!

I was especially happy that seasoned crab came included as a basic side — the shell was soft and it was delicious!

If any side dish runs low, you can just grab more from the self-serve bar, so refills were easy without having to flag anyone down.

The Jeongwon seasoned galbi platter: 1.1kg for 56,000 won
And then our Jeongwon seasoned galbi platter arrived. It's a generous 1.1kg for ₩56,000 — really great value. It's pork shoulder galbi coated in a sweet, savory house sauce!
You grill it yourself~~! Just cook it over the well-lit charcoal until done. There's a smoke extractor above the grill so the meat smell didn't cling to us and we could eat in comfort.
You've gotta roll the seasoned galbi around and really work it while it cooks for the best flavor... you all know this, right? haha

Once the meat turns that gorgeous golden brown,

time to dig in~~~~!! The sweet galbi sauce had soaked in beautifully — even though it's shoulder cut, it wasn't dry at all, just juicy and delicious, the very picture of good galbi.

Thanks to that, everyone in the family got to enjoy the pork galbi their own way.

Mul naengmyeon at 5,000 won and cheoldol doenjang sulbap at 8,000 won
For dessert we ordered mul naengmyeon (cold noodles in broth)! It cost ₩5,000,

and the portion was generous and refreshing, really delicious. How do you resist naengmyeon after galbi~~~! Wrap that cold noodle right up in the galbi and eat it now~~!!!

And this is the cheoldol doenjang sulbap (rice with beef brisket in doenjang sauce)! It was ₩8,000. We also tried the ₩3,000 dessert doenjang jjigae, thinking they'd taste similar, but the sulbap had a much richer flavor while the jjigae was lighter and clearer — the sulbap won out for me.

The beef brisket was hearty and the rice portion was generous too, so it was a satisfying dish!
Is Jeongwon Galbi Gyeonggi Gwangju Branch worth it? Final verdict
With a generous 1.1kg, the four of us walked out very full! They even had plum tea ready for after the meal,

which helped everything settle nicely ^^ Clean side dishes, sweet and delicious pork galbi, and a comfortable dining atmosphere — overall this was a satisfying visit to Jeongwon Galbi, a Gwangju restaurant I'd recommend.
