Hi, this is Maegui. As parents get older, when picking a place to eat out, don't you find yourself looking first for food that's "nutritious and easy on the stomach" rather than greasy or spicy?
This time I wanted to treat my parents to a proper meal out, so we went to O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang — individual bowls of crispy scorched rice and rich seafood broth bubbling away in a hot stone pot! They said "let's come again next time" so many times during the meal, I lost count. From the huge parking lot that's foolproof even for new drivers, to the hearty seafood nurungjitang and the homemade side dishes, let me walk you through it all!
Where is O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang Hanam Misa Main Branch, and how is the parking?
O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang Hanam Misa Main Branch stands large and imposing on its own along Misa-daero in Hanam, easy to spot from a distance. If you're driving, there's a big dedicated free parking lot around the front, back, and sides of the building that fits 30+ cars.

🚗 If you're driving Unlike Hanam's crowded commercial buildings, there's zero parking stress here, even for new drivers or big families. It's also close to Misa Lakeside Park and Misa Cycling Park, so it pairs nicely with a drive.
🚶 If you're taking public transit From Exit 1 of Hanam Pungsan Station on Line 5, head straight toward Misa-daero and it's about an 11–14 minute walk (roughly 897m).
Inside O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang: seating that suits elderly parents
Walk through the door of O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang Hanam Misa Main Branch and you're met with high ceilings and open space, no cramped feeling at all. The tables are spaced generously and the seats are comfortably designed, making it perfect for family outings with elderly parents or young kids.

One stone pot per person and the self-serve side dish bar
Instead of everyone dipping spoons into one big shared pot, O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang serves each person their own carefully cooked stone pot — clean and hygienic, great for family gatherings or group meals too.

The secret weapon that doubles the flavor of the nurungjitang (scorched rice soup) is the self-serve bar right in the center of the restaurant.

There's a solid lineup of tasty side dishes and sweet dessert fruit that really elevate the meal.

The pa-kimchi (green onion kimchi) in particular is spicy-sweet with a nice sharp bite, perfectly aged — piling it on top of the savory nurungjitang is amazing.

The crisp radish and icy, refreshing dongchimi (chilled radish water kimchi) broth is great to sip between bites of the hot soup. Being able to help yourself to as much as you want without hesitation really pleased my parents too.

As soon as it's served at the table, thick, rich seafood broth is poured right over the heated stone pot,

and with a lively "sizzle," clouds of steam rise up and grab your eyes and nose all at once.

Seafood abalone nurungjitang, 20,000 won: whole abalone and ginseng sprouts
The seafood abalone nurungjitang (₩20,000) is the signature dish, and the one I ordered specifically to nourish my parents. On top of the ocean-scented seafood nurungjitang sits a whole plump abalone and healthy saessak-sam (young ginseng sprouts), neatly arranged.
The abalone was steamed so tender it wasn't chewy at all — you could just scoop it off with a spoon — which was perfect for my parents to eat.

The faintly bitter aroma of the saessak-sam lingered, and after finishing the bowl, I felt warmth spread through my whole body along with a boost of energy.

Basic seafood nurungjitang, 18,000 won: how big is the portion?
The basic seafood nurungjitang (₩18,000) is plenty satisfying on its own if you're not especially into abalone! It's packed with squid, shrimp, assorted seafood, and fresh vegetables overflowing the earthenware pot — the portion is genuinely massive.

The crispy glutinous-rice scorched rice soaks up the rich secret-recipe broth and turns chewy and soft, and each spoonful spreads deep, savory warmth through your body. It's completely gentle on the stomach and digests easily, so I don't think there's a better menu item for older palates.
Final verdict and the free lemonade for Naver reservations
O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang Hanam Misa Main Branch was a successful meal out for my parents that took care of their taste, health, and digestion all at once. They also serve Chinese dishes like tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) made with domestic chilled tenderloin and chili shrimp, so it's a great spot for the whole family, from kids to grandparents.

If you book ahead through Naver, be sure to claim your free cool, refreshing 'lemonade' per table — don't miss it!
