Which cut to order at a Seongsu beef cutlet restaurant: Gyuen Dang
In short
Gyuen Dang Seongsu Main Branch is a gyukatsu (Japanese-style breaded beef cutlet) restaurant on the 2nd floor at 10 Yeonmujang 7-ga-gil, Seongdong-gu, Seoul. Ordering both cuts side by side — tenderloin gyukatsu at 24,000 won and striploin gyukatsu at 19,000 won — split opinions: the writer's companion chose the soft, thick tenderloin, while the writer preferred the deeper beefy flavor of the striploin. Melting butter on the tabletop grill lifts the flavor, but anyone who dislikes rich food is better off skipping it.

What the dining room at Gyuen Dang Seongsu Main Branch looks like

The interior totally has a Japanese vibe !! There are lots of tables and the AC was blasting, which was so nice haha.
Menu and prices: the two gyukatsu cuts we ordered

At Gyuen Dang Seongsu Main Branch we ordered the tenderloin gyukatsu at ₩24,000 and the striploin gyukatsu at ₩19,000.
Tenderloin gyukatsu, 24,000 won: the softer, thicker cut

Tenderloin gyukatsu, ₩24,000. Wow !! The tenderloin gyukatsu arrived and the meat quality looked really good haha. It came with salad and soup too, and the portion looked pretty generous ♥
The tenderloin was softer and thicker than the striploin haha. Plus the breading outside wasn't soggy at all — perfectly crispy ~~

Striploin gyukatsu, 19,000 won: the stronger beefy flavor
Striploin gyukatsu, ₩19,000. The striploin gyukatsu had a stronger beef flavor than the tenderloin and was a bit thinner !! It seemed like it would totally come down to personal preference. My friend said the tenderloin was tastier, but since I care a lot about the natural flavor of the meat, I actually liked the striploin more ~~

The beef flavor was so good haha, it was really similar to what you'd get in Japan ~~ And the sauce that came with it was seriously delicious !! It really boosted the savory flavor ♥

How to grill gyukatsu with butter at Gyuen Dang
At Gyuen Dang Seongsu Main Branch they also give you butter, so melting it on the grill first and eating the cutlet with it takes the flavor up another level with that buttery richness haha. But if you're not a fan of heavy flavors, I'd recommend eating it without the butter !!!!
If you love gyukatsu or are looking for good food in Seongsu, go check out Gyuen Dang Seongsu Main Branch !! Highly recommend this gyukatsu specialty restaurant ~~
