Paju Book City dumpling restaurant with plate mandu: Bubyeokjeong
In short
Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu is a Pyeongyang-style dumpling restaurant on Jimok-ro in Paju Book City, Gyeonggi. Three of us arrived after 7pm on a weekday and ordered two servings of Pyeongyang mandu hot pot in the spicy version, plus bibim makguksu (spicy cold buckwheat noodles) and a plate of dumplings; tablet ordering and the self-serve corner meant everything reached the table hot at once. The spicy broth at Bubyeokjeong has heat without harshness, so even a big meal sat easy.

🇰🇷 Paju food spot: Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu
It'd be great to cook every meal at home, but between time and energy, eating out ends up happening a lot. Whenever I eat out, I try to go for food that's not too harsh on the stomach. Let me walk you through the menu and my experience at Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu, a dumpling spot in Paju that manages to be both easy on the stomach and delicious 🫶
What is Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu in Paju like?
Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu is a Pyeongyang-style dumpling (mandu) restaurant in Paju Book City on Jimok-ro. Their signature dish is a hot pot simmered with dumplings stuffed full of filling.

✅ There are two versions — spicy and mild — so you can order according to your taste.
Getting there: 5 minutes from Paju Lotte Premium Outlets

⏰ Hours: Daily 11am–9pm (weekday break time 2:30pm–5pm)
It's close to Paju Lotte Premium Outlets, so it's a good spot for lunch or dinner after weekend shopping. There are also plenty of large cafés nearby, so it works well for meals with parents or family gatherings with older relatives too.

The interior has a bright, open feel overall, and the tables are spaced generously apart, so you can eat comfortably without worrying about the next table.

Since there's plenty of seating, you shouldn't have to wait long even during peak hours.
Menu, tablet ordering and the self-serve corner

We went a bit past 7pm on a weekday, right as the dinner peak was winding down, so we got a table easily. The menu had Pyeongyang mandu hot pot, Pyeongyang mandu soup, mandu jjabagi, water makguksu, bibim makguksu, mung bean pancake, and suyuk, and I noticed some newer additions — seasonal namul and tofu!
You can choose spicy or mild for the hot pot, and even the spicy one isn't harsh, so you feel fine afterward — that's the best part!

Ordering through the tablet at each table was convenient too. You can request anything you need right away, which cuts down on that chaotic feeling.
There's a self-serve corner on one side with danmuji (pickled radish), white kimchi, cabbage kimchi, and broth that you can help yourself to. The basic side dishes get set out first when you order, and after that you can just refill whatever you need.
A table for three: 2 servings of hot pot, bibim makguksu, plate dumplings

The three of us ordered two servings of Pyeongyang mandu hot pot plus bibim makguksu and added plate dumplings on top. Almost everything came out at once, which was so convenient! Honestly, when dishes come out one at a time at a restaurant, the flow gets broken, you fill up fast, and whatever arrived first goes cold — but here everything came together, so we ate it all warm.

We came for a dumpling spot in Paju, but is the bibim makguksu allowed to be this good...? The tangy sauce, noodles, and meat combined into a savory balance that was just right! It was great to order a bowl to share before the hot pot started boiling, to whet our appetite.

Once every dish we ordered arrived, the table was completely full, and the food looked mild and non-harsh, so my parents liked it too!

The plate dumplings can be eaten right away when they arrive — the filling was packed full while the wrapper was thin, so you could really taste the meat juices.

We made our own dipping sauce with vinegar, soy sauce, and chili flakes, and it was so good..!! Genuinely earns its reputation as a dumpling spot in Paju!!
How spicy is the spicy Pyeongyang mandu hot pot?

The vegetables you can add to the hot pot were varied — mushrooms, sesame leaves, bean sprouts, bok choy — and it also came with noodles alongside the dumplings.

We put the whole plate in, boiled it hard, then ate once everything was just cooked through — the broth's flavor had soaked in nicely and tasted clean! The spicy, savory broth hit deep, and it was spicy and clean-tasting at the same time.

Last, we added knife-cut noodles, and it was so good you couldn't help but keep eating even when full..! Since the ingredients were mild and not harsh overall, even overeating didn't leave us feeling weighed down.
Takeout, cookies and misutgaru to finish

Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu isn't just for dining in — it's also a dumpling spot in Paju where you can take food to go, which is a nice bonus.

On top of that, they thoughtfully provide post-meal snacks and misutgaru (roasted grain drink), so we could wrap up the meal on a clean note. If you're looking for a dumpling spot in Paju, definitely pay Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu a visit 🫶
