Paju container café with green onion cheese toast: On the Rail

Today I'm reviewing an outdoor café near Imjingak in Paju where trains actually pass by!! It's 'On the Rail'. The weather's been so nice lately that the outdoor café had a really great vibe!!

What On the Rail looks like and where to park in Paju

Here's the outside. It's built in a container style and it's pretty large!! The white building with a red roof caught my eye right away. If you're looking for a big café near Imjingak in Paju, I'd recommend this one~ Parking was no worry at all since there's plenty of space!!

On the Rail's bread selection and prices

Once inside, the bread just looked so delicious!! From cakes to sausage bread, pies, cream bread, and more — there was so much variety it was actually fun to choose!! Prices were reasonable too~ I picked the green onion cheese toast and tomato basil bread!! Everything else looked so tempting I already wanted to come back haha. Next time I want to try the cakes~ The bread selection was on the level of a proper bakery café. The coffee menu was also reasonably priced, so I could order without worrying.

Inside On the Rail: seating, atmosphere and baby chairs

The interior had great openness and was spacious!! It was clean and simple, so it looked nice too!! The white tones made for a bright, memorable atmosphere!!

They also had baby chairs on hand, so it seems like a good place to bring kids~!!

The bread I picked could be warmed up in the microwave, so I got to enjoy it nice and soft!! Warming it for the recommended 30 seconds gave it just the right temperature.

One of On the Rail's strengths is that it's right next to the train tracks, so you can watch trains pass by and take photos!! This was my first time at a café with this kind of concept, so it felt really novel~ There's a railway right in front of the outdoor seating!!

There's a train schedule posted, so check it out!! My timing didn't line up so I missed seeing the train ㅜㅜ That was a bit disappointing.

Kids really loved being able to take photos with the car like this~ I think photos come out really well here!! I actually saw kids climbing up and posing happily haha.

There was also a photo zone here that feels like you're posing right in front of the railway!! Photos taken here come out great, so keep it in mind~~ It felt like taking sentimental countryside photos haha.

I really loved the outdoor seating!! The landscaping was so well done it looked great, and the parasols were super cute and blocked the sun nicely haha. The weather was nice too with a gentle breeze, and just having bread and coffee outdoors was such a good feeling!!

How the green onion cheese toast, tomato basil bread and Americano tasted

I ordered an Americano for coffee!! It had good balance so it went well with the bread!! And the portion was generous haha.

The tomato basil bread had cream cheese, basil pesto, and plenty of tomato packed into soft bread, so it was fragrant and full of flavor. The bread was especially soft, giving it a great texture. I was surprised how good it was, like something from a specialty bakery!!

The green onion cheese toast had plenty of green onion and bacon piled on top, giving it great aroma and flavor, and the cream cheese sauce between the bread layers rounded out the taste smoothly!! Both breads had generous portions so I could eat them to my heart's content.

Is On the Rail worth adding to an Imjingak day out?

On the Rail, this Imjingak-area café in Paju, had everything going for it — delicious bread and coffee, outdoor seating, and even photo zones!! It's a great stop for a Paju drive, and the photo zones made it fun~ Hitting up the café before heading to Imjingak worked out perfectly~ And since it's open until the early morning, it seems fine to go late too!!
