Corkage-free Korean beef set with uraramen at Yakiniku Doryong
In short
Yakiniku Doryong is a Korean beef yakiniku restaurant near Expo Water Park in Yuseong, Daejeon, where staff grill each piece for you at long bar seating. Two diners shared the Korean beef 2-person set (340g, ₩80,000) — tenderloin, striploin, flat iron, and brisket point, in that order — finished with uraramen (udon ramen). Corkage-free and calm rather than chaotic, it's better suited to a date or anniversary dinner than a work dinner.

I had dinner plans near Expo Water Park in Daejeon and was looking around for somewhere to eat when I ended up at Yakiniku Doryong. I like beef in general, so while searching for Korean beef restaurants in Daejeon I found this place — and it's not your typical grill joint where you throw everything on the pan yourself. It's a Daejeon yakiniku restaurant where the staff grill each piece for you over a charcoal brazier!!!!

Doryong-dong especially has a lot of restaurants with great atmosphere, so I often look here when I need somewhere for a date or anniversary dinner. Yakiniku Doryong has bar-style seating, so two people can sit side by side and eat slowly — and best of all, they grill the meat for you. Definitely a Doryong-dong spot worth knowing.
Yakiniku Doryong location and store info
Yakiniku Doryong is on Expo-ro 151beon-gil in Doryong-dong, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon — a decent spot if you're looking for somewhere to eat around the Daejeon Expo area or DCC. Open 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM, closed Sundays. There's parking in the building too, so it's relatively convenient if you're driving.

Bar seating, grilled by the staff
The moment you walk in, the atmosphere is clearly different from a typical Korean BBQ place. Rather than sitting around a table in a noisy group, you sit at the long bar seating and receive each piece of meat as it comes off the brazier. And since the staff do the grilling, your conversation never gets interrupted by having to tend the meat — a real plus!
This time we ordered the Korean beef 2-person set and uraramen. Cutting to the conclusion: it was great being able to comfortably eat each cut of Korean beef grilled to its ideal doneness, and finishing with uraramen made the whole meal feel neatly rounded off.

Korean beef 2-person set, 340g for ₩80,000: what's on the table
The basic side dishes were very clean and simple. Cabbage came with basil dressing — I thought it wouldn't work, but it was a perfect match.

- Assorted Korean beef cuts: tenderloin, striploin, flat iron, brisket point
- Grilled one by one, in order, by the staff
We went with the Korean beef set. If you're not into specialty cuts like beef tongue or tripe and just want to properly enjoy Daejeon's Korean beef, the beef set seems like the right fit.

The brazier arrives and gets placed right in front of you. Already impressive. The moment the meat came out, I thought — yeah, beef really is on another level just visually.
Instead of piling a plate of meat all at once onto the grill, they grill each piece according to its condition and cut, so the pace of the meal naturally slows down a bit. This was honestly what I liked most about Yakiniku Doryong. Beef texture changes a lot within seconds, and when you grill it yourself while chatting, you can easily miss the timing.

How was the Korean beef?
A gentle smoky char came through while the inside stayed juicy, and eating each piece slowly let me really notice how the texture changed cut to cut.
Especially the cuts with that distinct savory Korean beef flavor spreading through your mouth were plenty good with just a touch of salt. Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously so savory, juicy through and through, genuinely great meat. Rather than piling on sauces and sides, I'd recommend trying the first piece plain, then adding accompaniments from there.

If you're the type who goes hunting for Korean beef restaurants in Daejeon, this piece-by-piece grilling style will probably score high with you. They handle everything from fire control to grilling time, so all we had to do was focus on the meat.

When two people visit and one of them ends up constantly tending the grill, it can get a bit chaotic — none of that here. We'd chat, a piece would finish, we'd eat it, chat some more, try the next cut — the whole meal felt relaxed. The quality of the meat was also excellent, which made it even better. When I visited, it looked like groups of researchers from nearby labs were coming in for dinner together, and I overheard that corkage is free here.
Corkage-free — even better if you like wine
Another thing that stood out while researching Yakiniku Doryong was that it's corkage-free. If you like pairing Korean beef with wine, it might be worth bringing a bottle you like.

So personally, I felt this is better suited to a date, a quiet dinner for two, or an anniversary than a work dinner. Also a solid Korean beef restaurant recommendation for anyone who isn't a fan of the usual chaotic BBQ-joint vibe.

After the meat, finish with uraramen
After happily finishing the Korean beef 2-person set, it felt like a shame to just stop there, so we ordered uraramen (udon ramen) on top. The meat alone was already satisfying, but as any Korean will tell you, a meal doesn't feel complete without finishing on noodles or soup.

The uraramen did a great job of clearing away the richness left in your mouth from the meat. A sip of the warm broth first, then slurping the noodles, brought my appetite right back to life. Even after eating our fill of Korean beef, somehow there was still room for noodles. If you're going as a pair, I'd recommend finishing the Korean beef 2-person set and then sharing one order of uraramen between you. If the meat was the main act for this meal, uraramen was the finishing touch that completed it.

A place I'd go back to for Korean beef in Doryong-dong
Wrapping it up: Yakiniku Doryong stood out not only for the taste of the Korean beef, but especially for the convenience of having it grilled for you and the calm atmosphere. Usually when you go for beef, taste matters, but so does who's doing the grilling — and satisfaction can swing a lot depending on that. Here, they grilled every piece to its best state from start to finish, which made the whole meal effortless. And of course, the meat itself was top grade.
