Why we chose Park Man-bae Arirang Bossam for lunch near Wonheung Station
Park Man-bae Arirang Bossam, Wonheung Station Branch is a bossam (boiled pork wrap) Korean restaurant near Wonheung Station in Goyang, and what I had that day was the half-and-half bossam small size with kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup). I'd been trying to figure out what to eat for lunch lately, wanting something more filling than a simple meal, and that's how I ended up at the Wonheung branch.
Bossam is something I love and order pretty often, but Park Man-bae Arirang Bossam, famous as a lunch spot near Wonheung Station, uses gabrisal (pork neck meat) for its bossam, which is pretty unusual, so I was curious.

Getting there from Wonheung Station, plus 2 hours of registered parking
The Wonheung branch of Park Man-bae Arirang Bossam is near the subway station and offers up to 2 hours of building parking registration, so accessibility was really good.

The interior was very spacious and clean, and with the high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling glass, it felt really open haha. It looked great for group gatherings since it's so spacious, and with baby chairs available it was also good for whole families.

Half-and-half bossam: cabbage and kimchi wraps in one order
Gabrisal bossam, made from only 200 grams per pig — so precious haha. I was really looking forward to it. What we ordered that day was the half-and-half bossam small size.
When ordering bossam, it's sometimes a shame to have to pick just cabbage or just kimchi, but ordering half-and-half lets you have both, which is great haha. You can wrap the meat in cabbage, pair it with kimchi, or eat it however you like — I personally like eating meat, kimchi, and cabbage all together.

Basic side dishes came out first — fish cake, peppers, garlic, geotjeori (fresh kimchi), vegetable salad, and so on.

And ssamjang (dipping sauce) and salted shrimp were set up too. Done.

How filling is the small size of bossam?
Then the half-and-half bossam arrived. Even I thought from photos alone that the meat looked thin and the portion looked small, but in person it's actually a huge amount — I got seriously full haha.

There's an advantage to eating in the restaurant that you can't get from delivery, right? Eating it right away while it's still warm. Bossam is best eaten hot, after all. So I picked up a piece right when it arrived, and I was surprised at how soft it was — it just melted in my mouth.

Eating the meat alone gives a clean, plain flavor, and pairing it with kimchi or cabbage changes the taste completely, so I kept mixing and matching different combinations.

I especially like wrapping bossam in cabbage — it somehow feels like I'm eating something healthy and I feel less guilty about it haha. Adding a bit of kimchi on top gets the seasoning just right, which I really love.

Kalguksu or makguksu: which free noodle should you pick?
When you order bossam at Park Man-bae Arirang Bossam, they let you choose between kalguksu and makguksu (buckwheat noodles) to go with it, and I ordered kalguksu. It felt like a shame to just eat bossam alone. Personally, when eating pork belly or bossam, I like having warm broth to wash it down, so I added kalguksu, and it was definitely a good choice.
When you eat bossam, you end up focusing mostly on the meat and kimchi, and eventually it gets a little heavy and your throat feels stuck, right?

Taking a sip of kalguksu broth in between cleanses your palate and feels like a refresh so you can start again, and eating the noodles too makes the whole meal feel much more filling.

We asked for the noodles to be served together with the bossam from the start, but I think it'd also be great eaten afterward like a dessert. Since it's a choice between kalguksu and makguksu, either pairing with bossam would probably be great haha. The tangy makguksu would be refreshingly clean, but I'm just a broth lover so I picked kalguksu.

How can you resist that spicy, refreshing clam broth, ugh. Honestly, when I looked up blog reviews beforehand, I figured the small size would mean not much bossam and thin slices of meat, so I went in with a light 'just getting some protein' mindset while looking for a good lunch spot near Wonheung — but the portion turned out to be way bigger than expected and seriously filling.
Who Park Man-bae Arirang Bossam suits: friends, family or a work dinner
Park Man-bae Arirang Bossam, Wonheung Station Branch works fine for a lunch date with friends and is also an easy pick for family visits, so it'd be great for anyone looking for a good lunch spot near Wonheung. It also seems like a perfect fit for work dinners in Goyang's Wonheung area, since you don't have to grill the meat yourself — everything comes ready to eat.
On days when you don't want something too simple for lunch but also don't want something too heavy, eating bossam with kalguksu together lets you control the portion for a satisfying but reasonable meal. There's no bloated feeling afterward, everything sits easy. Next time I visit with a bigger group, I plan to add other menu items along with the bossam and kalguksu to share haha.
