Goyang Korean restaurant near Starfield for haejangguk before shopping

In short

Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk Goyang Samsong Branch is a hangover soup (haejangguk) and offal soup (naejangtang) restaurant across from Starfield Goyang in Gyeonggi. Visiting early evening before shopping, the writer ordered a haejangguk set with dombe pork and naejangtang, stirring in minced garlic and refilling the sliced radish kimchi (섞박지) twice. Free rice and broth refills with one order per person made it an easy, filling stop before hitting the mall.

A full spread of haejangguk at Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk Goyang Samsong Branch

Before heading to Starfield Goyang, I was starving and decided to fill up properly first. With the weather turning chilly, I got a craving for a warm soup, and it turned out there was a haejangguk (hangover soup) place near Starfield — so I checked it out. This is Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk, a Goyang restaurant near Starfield!

Interior vibe — is it comfortable to eat alone?

Walking in, the interior was bigger and cleaner than I expected — a good first impression. We came in the early evening, and there were solo diners as well as people casually enjoying a drink with their meal. High chairs were available too, so it looked like a fine spot to bring kids.

The menu and the set we ordered

Looking at the menu, they had the basic haejangguk, naejangtang, dombe pork, and seasoned tripe.

The seasonal Jeju-style hantchi (squid) mul-hoe looked delicious, and there was a set menu that came with dombe pork, so there were plenty of good combinations to try. We ordered the haejangguk set with dombe pork plus a bowl of naejangtang to sample a variety. With one order per person, rice refills were free, and broth refills were free too. You could also ask to leave out the chili paste (dadaegi) or ox blood (seonji) depending on preference.

The basic table setting and the dombe pork

Every table had chili peppers and ssamjang (soybean paste) set out, which I thought was kind of unusual haha. Fair warning, the peppers are really spicy!

On one side, sliced radish kimchi (섞박지) and minced garlic were standing by.

First, fresh lettuce and salted shrimp came out,

then the dombe pork included in the set arrived. It had a subtle herbal aroma, and the portion was just right to pair with the haejangguk.

Then the haejangguk in a hot stone bowl, piled high with green onion,

and finally the naejangtang — every dish we ordered was out.

The generous, mouthwatering spread had me drooling already.

The haejangguk's fillings and glass noodles — was a broth refill needed?

The haejangguk had chili paste (dadaegi) mixed in, and the more you stirred, the deeper red the broth turned, taking on that familiar hearty soup look.

Inside were beef, ox blood (seonji), bean sprouts, napa cabbage, and even a generous amount of glass noodles. Even if the noodles soaked up a lot of the broth, you could just add more — which made me feel extra reassured. My husband, who's all about the broth, said he'd probably need a refill before eating, but ended up full after one bowl. Might've gone differently if we'd been drinking too, haha.

Since I love glass noodles, he scooped some over for me to try — soft and easy to slurp down.

The naejangtang broth and minced garlic

I tasted the naejangtang broth before mixing in the chili paste. It had a deep, rich flavor like it had been simmered for a long time.

The naejangtang was loaded with beef tripe, ox blood, bean sprouts, and napa cabbage!

My husband said adding minced garlic is the real way to eat it, so I tried it, and the umami really came through — it was so much better. The garlic seemed to round out the broth and pull the flavors together. Definitely recommend adding it!

Both the haejangguk and naejangtang were packed with big chunks of ox blood. If you're a seonji lover, this soup would satisfy you.

The tripe was so generous that fillings kept turning up no matter how much we ate — enough that my husband and I ended up sharing, haha.

Dipped in the mustard sauce that came with it, it was chewy and had that perfect "time for a shot of soju" kind of flavor!

Dombe pork with salted shrimp and lettuce wraps

Having tried the mains, it was time for the meat. It looked glossy and delicious even before taking a bite.

Dipped lightly in salted shrimp, it was firm with no gamey smell, and it also went really well wrapped in lettuce.

The radish kimchi (섞박지) I refilled twice

I only took a small amount of the sliced radish kimchi at first, not knowing how it'd taste, but once I tried it — crunchy and slightly sweet, a perfect match with the soup — I ended up refilling it twice. Not a secret anymore.

Eating it spoonful after spoonful like this warmed me up from the inside, almost like I'd had a proper restorative meal. Fully recharged before shopping!

My husband expressed his approval by tipping the bowl to get every last drop. The restaurant was clean and pleasant, and the staff were kind, so we could eat comfortably — a place with no pressure whether you come with company or alone. It was perfect for grabbing a hot bowl right as the seasons start to change, and somewhere I'd love to visit again.
