As the weather cools down, it's the perfect time for a Han River picnic. We went out to Mangwon Han River Park for the first time in a while, but packing everything from a tent to a mat from home means way too much luggage — so this time we tried Han River picnic gear rental at Mangwon.

Using picnic rental gear at Mangwon Han River Park

We used Picnic List Mangwon. They have basically everything you'd need for a picnic at Mangwon Han River Park, so you could show up with literally nothing haha. Especially lugging a tent or table on the subway sounds exhausting just thinking about it, so renting everything on the spot was definitely more convenient.

How Picnic List Mangwon works and what the rentals cost

Picnic List Mangwon's basic rental time is 3 hours, with an extra hour costing ₩5,000, and the 6-hour all-day pass adding ₩10,000. Once we got to the store, the variety of items was much bigger than expected.

Tents and mats are the basics, but they also had tables, reclining chairs, picnic baskets, board games, a Bluetooth speaker, air pillows, and even fans.

Everything was sorted by category inside the store, so it was easy to look around and pick what we wanted.

You reserve in advance through Naver, then visit on your reservation date to pay and pick up your items. When you're done playing, you just drop everything back on the store's return shelf — pretty simple. Worth noting that the store runs unmanned during certain hours.

Which picnic set and add-ons we rented

We went all out at Picnic List Mangwon haha.

  • 3-piece set ₩10,000 — tent + wine table + reclining chair
  • 4-piece set — mat L + embossed mat + air pillow + fan
  • Plus a power bank, board games, and bubbles

Bear camera prop and board games

We also grabbed a cute bear camera prop for photos, which turned out cuter than expected and came in handy for pictures by the Han River haha. There were several board games to choose from too, which made for a great way to pass time on a two-person picnic.

Best of all was not having to carry a Mangwon Han River Park tent ourselves. They even have a camping wagon, so you just load your stuff and wheel it to the park. We actually rented a lot of stuff and it all fit into the wagon in one go.

Setting up the tent at Mangwon Han River Park

Once we got to the park, we found a shady spot and set up. We laid down the mat L first, then the embossed mat on top, and the ground felt surprisingly cushioned.

And once they set up the Mangwon Han River Park tent, it really felt like a proper picnic.

Renting the reclining chair turned out to be a good call. Sitting on the mat for a long time makes your back hurt, but being able to lean back made things way more comfortable.

The wine table was more useful than I expected. It was great for setting drinks and snacks, and just right for holding the fan or a phone.

The sun was pretty strong on the day we visited, so the fan was genuinely useful. And having the power bank meant we didn't have to worry about battery life while playing around.

Why a set beats renting single items

So if you're just starting to look into Han River picnic rentals at Mangwon, I'd recommend putting together the items you need as a set rather than just renting a tent by itself.

The biggest advantage is that your packing list shrinks dramatically. Buying a tent, a mat, and a table just for one Han River picnic is a hassle, and storing them afterward is awkward too.

For anyone who only picnics occasionally, renting through Han River picnic rental at Mangwon is a lot less of a burden than buying. There are also props like picnic baskets and hats that are great for photos, plus things to do like board games, which made it a solid date course too.

We ate, lay around, played board games, and took photos, and the time flew by faster than expected haha. Even with a lot of luggage, moving it all in the wagon wasn't a hassle. Just one tip — if you rent a lot of items, double-check before you leave so you don't forget anything.

On a nice day like this, just sitting by the Han River for a few hours is pretty healing. Even without any camping gear of your own, it was convenient to rent everything from a Mangwon Han River Park tent and mat to all kinds of props in one go.

If you're like me — too lazy to pack gear but still want a proper Han River picnic — I'd recommend this. Especially if you're looking for a date course in Mangwon, renting from Han River picnic rental and grabbing takeout food to go along with it could be a great combo :)
