Gangnam barbershop classic cut and fringe perm: Divers Barbershop
In short
Divers Barbershop at Gangnam-gu Office Station is a men’s barbershop in Gangnam, Seoul. My husband traded his usual two-block cut for a classic cut and light fringe perm shaped around his head. It made the areas that looked sparse less noticeable, and he found it manageable to style at home the next day.

My husband usually gets a 6 mm two-block cut on the sides and slicks his top hair back with pomade. Since we had been going to hair salons with our child, he had kept a similar style for a while, but for a weekend appointment in Gangnam, we decided to try something different at Divers Barbershop, Gangnam-gu Office Station branch.

Is it easy to get to from Gangnam-gu Office Station?
It was easy to find, about a one-minute walk from Exit 2 of Gangnam-gu Office Station. It is a men’s barbershop, and reservations can be made through Naver Booking. The parking support was also helpful, and since it is fairly close to my husband’s office, I thought it would be fine for him to come on his own next time.

How did he switch from a two-block cut to a classic cut?
At first, we booked a classic cut and a down perm. It was my husband’s first visit to a barbershop, so I watched the process beside him. The back of his head is fairly prominent, and the barber connected it naturally to the top hair and shaped the lines so that area would not stand out.
Lately, he had been concerned that the middle section of his hair looked sparser than before. I thought he could simply leave it longer and cover it with pomade, but this time, the length and the direction it fell were adjusted to suit the shape of his head.

How did the sparse-looking area change?
The length and direction were set so his hair would fall naturally along the contour of his head, then product was applied to the top to hold it in place. Styled that way, the sparse-looking area was less noticeable. It felt less like covering it with longer hair and more like creating the direction in which the hair falls.

I was impressed that the shape took his head, hair density, and usual styling into account. The barber said his head shape was somewhat difficult to style, but refined it by adjusting the connections and direction of the hair.

How were the down perm and fringe perm done?
The barber said the down perm we had included in the booking was not really necessary and did not recommend it. Instead, he gave the fringe a light perm to make it easier to style. The perm solution was applied and left for about seven minutes; rather than creating strong curls, it was just enough to guide the fringe into falling naturally.
Was it easy to style at home the next day?
What I was most curious about was whether he could recreate the same shape at home. When I saw him leaving for work the next day, he had applied product and styled it himself, yet the fringe fell naturally and the overall shape held up quite well. It was different from his usual pomaded look, which I liked, and seeing him keep looking in the mirror, he seemed pleased too.

What I liked most about this visit was that styling addressed the shape of my husband’s head and the areas that looked sparse, while still being easy to manage at home. Since it is also close to his office, he said he would like to return.
