Gyeongju mochi shop, mango and kiwi eaten 2 hours later: Tareudang
In short
Tareudang is a fruit mochi dessert shop on Sajeong-ro in Gyeongju's Hwangnidang-gil. On a Friday afternoon the fig mochi needed a wait, so mango yogurt (7,500 won) and gold kiwi (5,500 won) went into a cooler bag and were opened 2 hours later at the guesthouse. The mochi skin was still springy and the whole fruit burst with juice, making Tareudang an easy stop on a Hwangnidang-gil dessert course.

Hi, it's Kkomi :) Today I want to introduce 'Tareudang,' a fruit mochi spot in Gyeongju's Hwangnidang-gil~🤭 Fruit mochi is super hot right now and there are shops all over the country, but this 'Tareudang' kept coming up as a must-try if you're in Hwangnidang-gil, so ㅎㅎ Once I tried it, I understood why👀 Let's get into the post
Where is Tareudang, and how late is it open?
Tareudang is a fruit mochi shop at 49 Sajeong-ro, Gyeongju-si, Gyeongbuk, right on the Hwangnidang-gil street. It's open daily from 11am to 7pm, but it can close early once ingredients sell out!
The mochi is packed with big chunks of whole fruit, so one bite and the juice bursts everywhere✨✨

The exterior has such a cute look~ I visited on a Friday afternoon!

Luckily it wasn't too crowded, maybe because it was a weekday. If you come on the weekend, waiting is probably a given😣 And the owner was super kind too~

Tareudang's fruit mochi lineup on a Friday afternoon
I visited on 26.09.11❗️ That day Tareudang had persimmon yogurt, peach yogurt, mango yogurt, fig yogurt, pineapple, and gold kiwi on offer😋 The display case looked empty so I got a little nervous, but they said everything except fig could be ordered right away~🫶🏻

I guess that's their way of telling us to come back in winter for strawberry and hallabong,,, they looked so delicious🤧

I really wanted the fig, but they said it would take a while to come out, so after some agonizing I picked mango yogurt and gold kiwi instead. After buying, my sister was like 'I should've gotten peach too~🍑' and I just sighed and headed 🤨toward the guesthouse
I told you so!! I said the peach would probably be good too!!!
- ✅ Mango yogurt ₩7,500
- ✅ Gold kiwi ₩5,500
I wanted to eat them right after buying, but I didn't have time so I only ate them once I got to the guesthouse😳 Nearly 2 hours later..? that's when I ate them🫣 (I had a cooler bag so they stayed safely stored)

How does Tareudang's mango yogurt mochi taste?
Tareudang's mango yogurt had a really substantial whole 🥭mango packed inside!!!!!
I forgot to take a cross-section photo because I was too busy eating it, so please forgive me,,, is what I was about to say but

Luckily my sister took one ㅎㅎ Phew, thanks ^^ I took one bite of this and my eyes went wide!! I immediately told my sister 'wow you have to try this, it's insane' haha. The mochi skin was on the thicker side, but as a rice-cake lover I actually liked it👏🏻👏🏻 Because the mochi skin was super soft and chewy, kind of like changeok-tteok (glutinous rice cake) or pumpkin injeolmi, so it paired really well with the fruit and cream~👍🏻

Gold kiwi mochi with red bean inside
I also cut open the gold kiwi one🥝 there were little holes in it,,, that's on me for not eating it right away lol. Everyone, please eat these right after buying...🤍

This one was also super juicy,, and it had red bean in it too — such a great pairing, who knew~😊 Even the red bean was totally sweet and delicious!!

Overall everything was delicious — the mochi skin, the cream inside, and the fruit as the main star!! The ripening seemed perfectly timed too😉 And there were black flecks in the cream — probably vanilla bean, right? Anyway, all three elements matched up perfectly❗️❗️❗️ I ate it all very happily ㅎㅎ
Is Tareudang worth a stop on a Gyeongju dessert course?
Tareudang is in a perfect spot to swing by while walking around and sightseeing on Hwangnidang-gil, so it'd be great to add it as a dessert stop on a Gyeongju trip~💨💨 💛Since the fruit mochi can be bought one at a time, it's also perfect for a light dessert after a meal or to take back to your guesthouse as a snack — do stop by if you're around
I fully endorse this as a Hwangnidang-gil dessert must-try~~ I recommend 'Tareudang'~🍀

Where should I go next? Recommend me some Hwangnidang-gil spots~❤
