Banwoldang Station café in Daegu: crimson punch tea at Dento

While looking for a place to have brunch near Banwoldang, I went back to Bongsan-dong after a while and visited Dento, a new brunch café 🤎

Where Dento is and when it opens — Bongsan-dong, Banwoldang Station Exit 9

Dento is on the 1st floor of 42-5 Bongsanmunhwa 2-gil, Jung-gu, Daegu, close by if you come up through Banwoldang Station Exit 9. The exterior already had that certain atmosphere — it looked really nice. Unlike the cute, playful signage, the interior felt calm and relaxed.

Dento's menu and our order — five open sandwiches and three drinks

Here's the menu! Since it's a brunch café, they sell various sandwiches too. We ordered the open sandwiches so we could taste all five flavors at once, along with Crimson Punch Tea, Peach Oolong Tea, and homemade lemonade!

Inside Dento: seating and table setting

Dento's interior has 1 group table and 3-4 tables for four! There were also flowers around, which made it really pretty?

A knife and fork were already set out in the middle of the table, along with side plates, disposable gloves, and water! Feels like the owner really thinks of the little details.

Our order finally arrived! The owner explained each item one by one! I'll go through them in detail below!

Dento's five bite-size open sandwiches, compared by three of us

Dento's open sandwiches come in 5 flavors total, and the owner recommended eating them in order from the first one. They're bite-sized — literally one bite each — so the three of us compared them one by one.

Pan con tomate

• 👸🏻 Refreshing and light
• 👼🏻 Leaves your palate clean
• 👩🏻 You can really taste the freshness of the tomato

Avocado salmon

• 👸🏻 The combo of smoked salmon and avocado is the best!
• 👼🏻 The avocado was mild and filling, felt satisfying.
• 👩🏻 I didn't really taste the avocado much, but? the combination with smoked salmon was great!

Romesco roasted vegetables

• 👸🏻 Personally not a fan of strong aromas, so it was tasty but ranked 5th for me! Just personal taste haha
• 👼🏻 Tasted like silkworm pupae! Interesting.
• 👩🏻 I'm not really into vegetables so.. the sauce underneath had a strong flavor to me!

Shrimp rémoulade

• 👸🏻 Liked that the shrimp was plump. The sauce was tasty too!
• 👼🏻 The celery aroma was really strong, lingered in my mouth till the end!
• 👩🏻 A clean, light shrimp sandwich, easy to eat!

Truffle ricotta

• 👸🏻 This is the best one! Ricotta cheese and truffle go so well together!
• 👼🏻 My favorite, loved how strong the truffle aroma was.
• 👩🏻 First the truffle hits you strong, then the sweet ricotta comes through gently! Strongest flavor of all! Delicious!

Crimson Punch Tea, Peach Oolong Tea and homemade lemonade

True to its name, Crimson Punch had a fragrant vibe that paired well with the sandwiches, and it smelled really good. Peach Oolong had a subtle peach aroma, so it seemed better suited to tea lovers rather than those who prefer sweeter drinks. Served cold, we drank it down like water right on the spot. And since I was craving something refreshing, I ordered the homemade lemonade 🍋 — a sip between sandwich bites made my mouth feel fresh again, so it paired really well.

Dento is in Bongsan-dong, an easy spot to get to from Banwoldang Station, so it's a good place to stop by before or after meeting someone. Especially if you want to try a little bit of several different sandwiches, or want a light brunch rather than a heavy meal, this is the kind of place you'll think of. If you're looking for a new brunch café near Banwoldang these days, having 5 kinds of open sandwiches will make it memorable. It was nice getting to experience multiple flavors instead of just picking one.
