Allegro, a Bangi-dong restaurant favorite

Italian dining in Bangi-dong where you eat dinner while listening to live jazz 🎷 Ever wanted to try a jazz bar but just closed the search tab after Googling? Do you need to know wine, will real food actually come out, how do you even book. I was in exactly that state digging through Bangi-dong restaurants when I booked Allegro. Spoiler: the barrier to entry was way lower than I expected, but there are a few conditions that could catch you off guard at checkout if you don't know them, so let me lay it all out.

Where is Allegro? 3rd floor in the Bangi-dong restaurant alley
Allegro sits on the 3rd floor of a building tucked inside the Bangi-dong restaurant alley. Since the 1st floor is a kalguksu (noodle soup) shop, it's easy to walk right past just looking at the signage. We actually walked past it once and had to turn back 😅

Check the floor directory next to the entrance and you'll spot it right away — 3rd floor. Just take the elevator once you see this. And one thing — you can walk in, but seats may be full, so book through Catchtable before you go ❗
Reservations are essential for the live show time — grab your Catchtable spot before you head out.

The cover charge is separate from the food bill: read Allegro's info card first
Allegro is a restaurant and a live venue at the same time. That means the rules are a bit different from a normal restaurant. It's all written on the info card on the table, which I only read after I'd already sat down 👀
- Show times — Set 1: 7:30–8:10pm / Set 2: 8:40–9:20pm, 40 minutes each
- Cover charge — ₩10,000/person weekdays, ₩15,000 Fri–Sat, separate from food
- Ordering — one menu item per person
- Talking — a note asks guests to keep their voices low during the show
- Closed — Tuesdays
The thing most people miss is the cover charge. It's added on top of the food bill, so for two people on a weekday that's an extra ₩20,000. Still, for two 40-minute live sets, I didn't think it was a waste at all 🖤
Evening parking at Allegro: a private lot at 1,200 won an hour
If you're driving, this is a real tip. I used the Modu's Parking app to find the cheapest lot nearby — ₩1,200 an hour. Parking really matters, honestly ❗ The building only offers parking during the day, with no support in the evening, so you'll need a private lot. I'd recommend scoping out a spot on the app before you leave.

All 2-person table seating, and the stage is visible from every seat
Allegro's hall is entirely standard seating with 2-top tables as the default. Black tables, white subway tile walls, low-hanging pendant lighting. Of all the Bangi-dong restaurants I've been to, this one tops the list for atmosphere alone 👍
The tables aren't super spaced out. But wherever you sit, you can see the stage, so it doesn't matter where luck seats you. There's no floor seating or private rooms, and I didn't spot a high chair.

There's a long bar counter on one side. Wine glasses hang in a row with little props scattered around — honestly, this corner was the prettiest for photos 📸
Bangi-dong pasta prices are much better at lunch

Allegro's menu and prices: why lunch happy hour is the better deal
Allegro's hours are lunch 12:00–15:00 / dinner 18:00–23:00. The first page of the menu has the lunch happy hour printed in big letters — come for lunch and pasta is ₩16,000, with 15% off the whole menu. Dinner runs at regular price. Price-wise, daytime is clearly the better deal. But the show only happens in the evening, so pick based on what you're going for 💡
- Pasta — puttanesca, carbonara, amatriciana ₩19,000, vongole ₩20,000
- Pasta — mushroom cream potato gnocchi ₩24,000
- Mains — sous-vide pork shoulder steak ₩33,000, octopus ₩34,000, salmon steak ₩36,000
- Salad — arugula from ₩10,000 up to burrata ₩25,000
- Sides — house focaccia ₩5,000, fries ₩9,000
The wine list is longer than expected — red, white, and sparkling starting in the ₩40,000s. You don't need to know anything about wine, though. We just ordered drinks 😁

Orders go through the tablet at the table. There's almost no need to flag down staff, which was genuinely convenient. Between the two of us, we ordered a seafood salad, mushroom cream potato gnocchi, sous-vide pork shoulder steak, and two drinks. Total came to ₩87,000. The cover charge is added on top of this.
Allegro, Bangi-dong branch — how's the food?!

Seafood salad, 20,000 won
Octopus, shrimp, mussels, piled high with red and yellow cherry tomatoes. The dressing isn't sour, so the ingredients' own flavors come through cleanly. What I liked most was that the octopus was cooked so it wasn't chewy.

- Scoop the tomato and seafood together in one spoonful
- Eaten separately it's a bit bland, but together the tomato's sweetness fills in the seasoning
- The portion is just right for two people to share as a starter
The seasoning isn't strong. It leans toward letting the ingredients speak for themselves.

Mushroom cream potato gnocchi, 24,000 won
The menu calls this the head chef's signature handmade gnocchi, and there's a reason for that. The gnocchi is seared so the edges are crispy while the inside stays fluffy from the potato. The cream isn't heavy, and grated parmesan on top really brings out the savory saltiness 👍
✔️ Tip — load each piece of gnocchi with cream and sautéed mushroom together. The portion is only 3–4 pieces each when split between two, so it's not generous. More on that below.
If I could only pick one dish, it's the gnocchi. This was the plate that made me put my fork down and just look at it.

Sous-vide pork shoulder steak, 33,000 won
Domestic pork shoulder cooked sous-vide, then seared crisp on the outside only. A peppercorn cream sauce with pink peppercorns dotted on top, served with a generous side of fries.

Cut into it and the inside stays pink. Not being dry despite being pork shoulder is the whole point of this dish. ✔️ Tip — don't finish all the sauce with the meat; save some on the side. Dip the fries in the leftover sauce — this combo is genuinely so good I wanted to order fries just for that 😎

Jazz sets 1 and 2 at Allegro: only a few steps from stage to table
At Allegro, the lights dim at 7:30 and the music starts. That night it was a four-piece — keys, guitar, upright bass, drums. They play in front of framed line-drawing portraits of jazz musicians on the wall, and the way the artwork and the stage overlapped was really pretty 🎷

It's only a few steps between the stage and the tables. The sound of the upright bass strings being plucked comes straight from the instrument, not a speaker. It's close enough to see the musicians' expressions and finger movements 👀 One glance up from your plate and the stage is right there — I kept putting my fork down just to watch. Set 1 ends, there's a 30-minute break, then Set 2 starts at 8:40. We stayed for both. By the way, the show schedule and lineup can be checked in advance at the 3rd floor entrance or on Allegro's Instagram!
That kind of distance never happens at a big concert hall. That alone is reason enough to come.
Portions and atmosphere: the honest drawbacks of Allegro
Overall, Allegro isn't a place where you leave stuffed. Three dishes for two people came to ₩87,000, plus a separate per-person cover charge. It's less a spot to fill up and more a place to eat slowly while enjoying live music. There's also a note asking guests to keep conversation down during the show. It suits a night when you want to focus on the music more than catch up on gossip with a friend. It's not really a place to go for dinner — it's a place to go to enjoy your evening. That said, I'd definitely come back. Next time I'll check the lineup first and pick a date around it ❗
What to know before visiting Allegro in Bangi-dong
- Anniversaries/dates — the close stage and pretty lighting make this a great fit
- First-timers — arrive 20–30 minutes before Set 1 to get your food served before the show starts
- Budget-conscious — lunch happy hour is much better value, go during the day
- With kids — since it's a quiet listening space, hard to recommend this time
- Driving — use a parking app to find the cheapest lot; I parked for ₩1,200/hr
The cover charge is ₩5,000 cheaper on weekdays, and it's closed on Tuesdays. If you searched for Bangi-dong restaurants and ended up here, this should be everything you need to know. Fancy a proper quiet evening out?
