Seafood jjamppong set at Glory Works, a Bucheon Chinese restaurant

In short

Glory Works is a Chinese restaurant directly in front of Exit 8 of Sangdong Station in Bucheon, Gyeonggi. The writer shared the 33,000-won set — garlic tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork), jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles), haemul jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) and a drink — with her 8-year-old, and got unlimited rice, a side dish self-bar and 3 hours of parking registered. The haemul jjamppong broth at Glory Works was the most memorable she has had among the Chinese restaurants near Sangdong Station lately.

A memorable Chinese restaurant near Sangdong Station

First time trying it, but I'm still thinking about it — introducing Glory Works, a Bucheon Chinese restaurant :0

Where is Glory Works, and is there parking? Sangdong Station Exit 8, 3 hours registered

Glory Works is right in front of Exit 8 of Sangdong Station, so it's easy to reach by public transit! If you drive, they'll register your parking for a full 3 hours~ Honestly, public parking lots in this neighborhood are tough and finding a spot on weekends is a whole ordeal, so getting up to 3 hours of parking after a meal is such a relief..!! The meal itself took less than an hour, but with 3 hours of parking I got to walk around the area before heading home haha

What comes in the 33,000-won set: garlic tangsuyuk, jjajangmyeon, haemul jjamppong and a drink

The menu I ordered this time comes with garlic tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) + jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles) + haemul jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) + a drink, all for ₩33,000 !!! Pretty cheap, don't you think? Since it lets you taste three dishes at once, it's great for a family lunch~ Also, if you leave a Naver receipt review, you get 4 pieces of condensed-milk flower bread as a service item! Flower bread is the first thing that comes to mind with Bucheon Chinese restaurants, so this is welcome news~

Glory Works at 1:30 pm on a weekend: the room and the starter side dishes

I think I arrived a bit past the weekend lunch peak, around 1:30 pm, but it was almost fully booked haha I actually thought there'd be fewer customers by then, so I was kind of caught off guard;; I guess that's why it's a famous Sangdong Station restaurant?

The place itself isn't huge, but the space is decorated in a cute, cozy way, and above all it's kept clean and pleasant, so I want to visit again.

The basic side dishes were jjajang-style pickled radish? and danmuji (pickled radish) !! If you need more, you can use the side dish self-bar :)

Why unlimited rice at Glory Works helps when you bring a child

Wow wow, the rice I was originally planning to order extra comes unlimited like this! Honestly with three of us including a kid, one bowl is a little short and ordering another is too much... So for these noodle-x2, dish-x1 set menus I always end up ordering extra rice, and it was great to get it here for free~

How the garlic tangsuyuk tastes: light on garlic, sweet and tangy

Here come today's main dishes~! What stuck with me most was the garlic tangsuyuk. The sauce caught my eye right away — at first I wondered if it was a Sichuan-style sauce..? but not at all!!! It's a sweet and tangy sauce with a strong garlic aroma that's still not overwhelming~

A plate of garlic tangsuyuk topped with sauce

A piece of tangsuyuk with plump meat inside

Since the tangsuyuk was part of a set, I had zero expectations for the portion, but there was so much that some was left over at the end! The meat pieces are plump, so each bite has a great balance between the crispy coating and the meat texture, and the coating isn't too thick so it doesn't scrape your palate..! A well-fried, delicious tangsuyuk.

I worried my 8-year-old wouldn't eat it because of the garlic smell, but no way !! The kid ate it even better than me haha The combination of garlic and the sweet-tangy sauce is amazing! It's not a style where the garlic hits you hard — it's more like a faint, pungent garlic note rising up through the sweet-tangy sauce !! Anyone can enjoy it without worry haha

Next up is the jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles)! The distinctive feature here is that a fried egg is placed on top of the jjajangmyeon! With an egg sitting on the noodles, the visual gets a little upgrade from an ordinary jjajangmyeon~

They also gave a generous amount of black bean sauce, which was great for mixing into my kid's rice, and it went well with the soft-boiled egg too. It's not just an intense flavor — thanks to that it was really enjoyable to eat~

Haemul jjamppong with shrimp and squid

Haemul jjamppong: plenty of shrimp and squid, spice mild enough for a child

The dish people order most at Bucheon Chinese restaurants is jjamppong, right? It's packed with big shrimp and squid and other seafood, so the more you stir through the broth, the more toppings keep turning up~

One spoonful of the broth and you immediately start craving rice.. haha The broth has a genuinely refreshing seafood flavor~ I've been to a lot of famous Sangdong Station restaurants, but this is the top one among the ones I've visited recently ㅠㅠ It's a lighter style, but so refreshing... perfect for a hangover cure. The seafood is generous for the price too! The broth and the toppings don't feel separate from each other, so next time I visit, haemul jjamppong is a must ㅋ___ㅋ It's not a broth that's only spicy — even a kid who can handle some heat could give this spice level a try haha

The finished table with jjajang, jjamppong, and tangsuyuk set

Eating all three dishes in rotation

With the jjajang, jjamppong, and tangsuyuk set menu, you get a full course of Bucheon Chinese food without it feeling like too much! Starting off sweet and savory with the jjajang, tasting the spicy, refreshing broth with the jjamppong, and adding crispy sweetness in between with the garlic tangsuyuk — alternating between them was really fun :) My kid enjoyed the meal so much that I'll definitely be back to this Sangdong Station spot!!
