Paju bakery sun-dried tomato sandwich and salt bread: Boulangerie Tan
In short
Boulangerie Tan Unjeong Main Branch is a naturally fermented bakery on the first floor of Palm Star Tower on Chorongkkot-ro in Paju's Unjeong area, Gyeonggi. On a 2–3pm visit the takeout order was four items — a sun-dried tomato sandwich, jambon-beurre, chocolate baguette and pollack roe potato salt bread — and the sun-dried tomato sandwich and pollack roe potato salt bread were the standouts. The jambon-beurre baguette turned slightly soggy after packing, so Boulangerie Tan is better visited in the morning.

There are so many bakeries in Paju's Unjeong neighborhood, but I finally made it to the one everyone raves about — Boulangerie Tan :) This bread-obsessed girl had been dying to try it, it's got a huge word-of-mouth reputation among the Unjeong moms!!!

What kind of bakery is Boulangerie Tan Unjeong Main Branch?
Boulangerie Tan apparently uses only organic flour and French flour. They make bread with a traditional natural fermentation method and use zero artificial additives — healthy and delicious bread that actually tastes like the baguettes and breads you'd get in Europe!!! The AOP butter is great too, and honestly good ingredients just can't taste bad~~~

The four breads picked from the display case at Boulangerie Tan
My eyes went wide as a bread lover ㅠㅠ it was so hard to choose.... I wanted to eat everything haha. Boulangerie Tan seems especially famous for its jambon-beurre and sandwich lineup. Salt bread, sliced bread, baguettes, croissants — don't even get me started haha.

It's not too far from home, but going on foot means you really have to make up your mind to go ^^;; If it were closer I might have dropped by every day..... After a long deliberation, I definitely picked the jambon-beurre — it's famous here and I was most curious about it!!! And what I actually wanted to eat had already sold out, so I made the 'sun-dried tomato sandwich' my main pick alongside it. The fig cream cheese baguette kept catching my eye... definitely a delicious combo, but this too haha.

I was curious about the plain sliced bread and baguette too since I love those, but I couldn't buy everything, so I'll have to come back and try them next time~~ haha. I bet the baguette would be absolutely amazing eaten fresh right when it comes out of the oven!!

The bread storage note tucked into the takeout bag
They also included a little guide on how to best enjoy Boulangerie Tan's bread. Eating it the same day is best, but if that's not possible, there are storage tips for each type of bread. Buying bread always puts me in such a good mood haha.

Sun-dried tomato sandwich: the best of the four
The sun-dried tomato sandwich was my backup choice, but it turned out to be the tastiest of all!!! haha. The umami of the tomato with cheese and arugula came together so well~~ You might think it's a familiar flavor, but you could really tell the ingredients were good :)

Jambon-beurre: why an afternoon pickup disappoints
The jambon-beurre, the one I had high hopes for~~ The ingredients were great here too, but the baguette had gone a bit soggy ㅠㅠ I picked it up around 2-3pm, and I'm not sure if it was from being covered on the way home, but it was a bit chewy and that was disappointing. I bet it would be amazing eaten right away in the morning.

Chocolate baguette, the Boulangerie Tan signature
I'd wanted to try this chocolate baguette for a while when it was getting popular, so I figured now was the time :) I'm not really a fan of sweet things, but Boulangerie Tan's chocolate baguette wasn't too sweet, which I loved. Crispy outside, soft inside. The bread inside the baguette was surprisingly fluffy, which surprised me. It was amazing with an Americano!!
Another one of their signature items is the 'carrot rapée chicken,' but it was sold out when I got there, which was a bummer ㅠㅠ Since this place is such a well-known bakery, it seems like the best items sell out not long after lunchtime.

Pollack roe potato salt bread
Wow~~ this was another one I genuinely enjoyed!! You can feel that buttery quality typical of salt bread on the crust, and that's exactly what makes it so crispy and delicious :) With potato and pollack roe folded in too, it couldn't possibly be anything but good haha. I want to eat it again..... seriously, this is a certified Paju Unjeong must-eat!!!

Verdict: four breads that made a full meal
Paju's 'Boulangerie Tan' only bakes and sells same-day. It's a bakery that uses only fresh, healthy ingredients, which makes it feel even more trustworthy~ A bakery like this really deserves to do well!!! ^^ I'm grateful to be able to eat good bread I can trust :)
I bought 4 breads meaning to just taste a little of each, but they were so good I ended up devouring the sandwich, jambon-beurre, and pollack roe potato salt bread on the spot!!! ^^;;; I genuinely felt as full as if I'd had a whole meal from bread alone~~~ I guess I really am a bread person over a rice person haha.
