While looking for good bread in Unjeong, I ended up visiting Boulangerie Tan Unjeong Main Branch. I heard it's been a famous bakery for a while now haha. I happened to be nearby this time so I dropped in! I'm not really into big franchises and I love neighborhood bakeries and cafés like this, so I was even more excited :)

Boulangerie Tan Unjeong Main Branch is open Tue–Sat 10:00–18:00 and Sun 10:00–15:00, closed every Monday. Parking is free for 2 hours.

There's no space to eat inside — it's takeout only. I arrived right at opening time, and there were already 3-4 groups of customers, more than I expected.

Seeing customers keep coming in even so soon after opening confirmed it — this really is a famous bakery in Unjeong! While picking out bread I noticed quite a few people who looked like regulars, too.

Boulangerie Tan Unjeong Main Branch has a huge variety — sandwiches, salt bread, piadina, financiers, cornet pastries, baguettes, croissants, tiramisu, and more. The moment I walked in I was faced with so many choices I had to think for a while.

There were basics like sliced loaf bread, but also a wide range of more unique breads you can only find at Boulangerie Tan.

What we took home from Boulangerie Tan, and how it tasted

On this visit, what I packed up at Boulangerie Tan Unjeong Main Branch was an iced café latte, a sun-dried tomato sandwich, a chocolat baguette, and a fig cream cheese baguette. I also picked a sandwich so I could make a simple meal out of it. If you want a quick breakfast or lunch like me, I'd recommend getting some to go!

When you get bread packed up, they include a slip with storage instructions. It's handy to check how each type of bread should be stored, especially useful if you can't eat it right away once you get home.

Sun-dried tomato sandwich

The sun-dried tomato sandwich I picked had a tangy tomato flavor that made it much fresher-tasting than eating plain bread. Eating it with the iced café latte felt exactly like a simple brunch.

It was packed with fresh ingredients and the sauce paired well — really tasty!

Chocolat baguette

And the chocolat baguette, which I love! The plain, chewy texture of a baguette combined with the sweetness of chocolate went great with coffee. It wasn't too sweet, which I liked even more.

The fig cream cheese baguette is also a combo I love, so I picked it too — the sweetness of the fig and the soft, nutty cream cheese paired really well with the baguette.

This time I picked mostly the things I wanted to try, but next time I want to try the salt bread, ciabatta, and financiers too, one by one. Overall the bread selection was so varied that choosing was fun, and seeing how many customers were already there right from opening, I get why it's known as a must-visit bakery in Unjeong, Paju.
