Bisan-dong, Anyang gopchang restaurant with frosty beer: Ilmigop
In short
Ilmigop is a beef gopchang (grilled intestines) restaurant on the first floor of an apartment complex shopping arcade in Bisan-dong, Anyang, Gyeonggi. On a weekend evening the writer and her husband ordered the assorted grill set (21,900 won) for two with a frosty half-frozen beer, and because they arrived early Ilmigop added free beef belly and a sundubu jjigae (soft tofu stew), leaving them too full for the fried rice. With no gamey smell and baby chairs at the tables, Ilmigop draws plenty of families.

Today's post is about Ilmigop, a gopchang (grilled beef intestines) restaurant near Beomgye in Bisan-dong, Anyang! I was craving gopchang over the weekend so my husband and I went to get our fix. I feel like I need a periodic gopchang transfusion, haha. Ilmigop is in Bisan-dong, near an apartment complex, and we went on a Sunday — it was clean and comfortable, which probably explains why so many people were there.

What is the atmosphere like at Ilmigop?
Ilmigop has around 8 to 10 four-person tables. The place was clean and comfortable, without that stuffy, cramped feeling gopchang restaurants can sometimes have — I liked that.

Since I'd booked through Naver Reservation, our table was marked as reserved and the side dishes were already set out for us.

Ilmigop menu and the side dishes that come free
Ilmigop's menu has a set where you can try gopchang (small intestine), daechang (large intestine), makchang (rectum), and yeomtong (heart) all together, as well as items you can order individually. You can also add beef belly separately — we got it for free since we came early!

The basic side dishes were garlic sauce, soy sauce, pickled onion, green onion kimchi, and cabbage salad. Not a huge spread, but everything paired well with the gopchang.

They also serve highballs and yukhoe (Korean-style beef tartare). I have a theory that if a place sells yukhoe, their gopchang is probably fresh too.
They say they prepare everything fresh from ingredients sourced the same day, and only use natural ingredients to tenderize the meat.
Can you bring kids to Ilmigop?
Ilmigop has baby chairs, so quite a few kids come here for gopchang, apparently? I used to have this bias that kids couldn't come to gopchang restaurants, but this place has proper baby chairs and table seating instead of floor seating, so there were quite a lot of families around.

Frosty half-frozen beer and sundubu jjigae
We started with the frosty draft beer. Ahh, that's the taste! It came out nice and cold, which I loved.

Sundubu jjigae (soft tofu stew) also came out as a default side, and it was really generous! Packed with ingredients and spicy — perfect as a drinking snack, and it'd also make great booze-soaked rice if you mixed rice into it.

Ordering the 21,900 won assorted grill set for two
Since it was our first visit, we ordered the assorted grill set (₩21,900) for two. There was even a coupon for free assorted gopchang if it's your birthday. Plus a 10% discount coupon for pregnant guests, firefighters, police, and military, and a beef belly coupon for anyone arriving after 8:30pm — if you qualify, it might be worth booking through Naver Reservation and claiming these perks when you visit!

You have to eat the yeomtong (beef heart) quickly before it gets tough. It was nutty and clean-tasting — really good.

Besides gopchang, daechang, makchang, and yeomtong, enoki mushrooms and seasoned chives were grilled alongside everything, which was great to eat with the meat! Ahh, that's the taste~~ It was a total feast of textures.

We ate the gopchang once it was fully cooked. The nutty gop (intestinal fat) inside was so tasty, and there were potatoes too — the potato-and-gopchang combo was nutty and worked really well with the gopchang fat.

The makchang was chewy and delicious too, and it was sliced long so it was easy to eat with the vegetables.

We had the daechang too — you know daechang tastes best when you grill it a while longer, until the outside gets crispy? We saved it for last.
They even brought out the beef belly we'd added — can a place really give this much service?! They gave us more vegetables to grill alongside it too. So tender, and dipped in the soy sauce for the beef belly, it just melted in your mouth.
Too full for Ilmigop's fried rice
And... yeah... I know everyone's probably been waiting to hear about the fried rice, but sorry, we were too full to eat it. The portions were bigger than expected... well, I guess I can only blame my own stomach, haha.
There was no gamey smell at all, it's a comfortable space to eat in, and it seems like a great spot for family visits or even a date course! Being near an apartment complex, it's clearly a genuine neighborhood favorite among locals, and the owner was so kind and the food was so good that I'll definitely be back. Highly recommend Ilmigop, a gopchang restaurant near Beomgye in Bisan-dong, Anyang.
