Why we ended a Hwaseong Fortress wall night walk at Nonchalant Lounge
Nonchalant Lounge is a Western-style restaurant at 896 Jeongjo-ro, 1F, Paldal-gu, Suwon, right near the Hwaseong Fortress wall walking trail in Haenggung-dong. My husband and I took a night walk near Suwon Hwaseong for the first time in a while, and strolling along the Haenggung-dong fortress wall in the cool autumn breeze was such a refreshing mood-lifter!

After walking a bit we got a little hungry, so we headed to a place I'd been saving. From a distance the softly lit exterior caught my eye — this was Nonchalant Lounge! This Suwon Hwaseong restaurant has an exotic aura like a European sidewalk café right from the entrance, and I was already excited before even stepping inside haha.

Does the Nonchalant Lounge interior really feel like being abroad?

The moment we stepped into Nonchalant Lounge, my husband and I both went "whoa" at the same time!

By day it's a bright brunch café, but at night the lighting dims and a completely different charm unfolds~

Stylish visuals played on the wall via a projector, adding even more to the mood haha. Vintage props and LP records were scattered around too — the owner's taste was next level!

A small candle on every table added a cozy touch — there's really no better spot for a date.

There was so much fun in checking out every corner that waiting for the food wasn't boring at all!

It's set up as an open kitchen so you can catch glimpses of the cooking, and the place was really clean haha. It looked hygienically managed so we could eat with peace of mind!
What's on the Nonchalant Lounge menu?

The grapefruit ade that came out first was such a gorgeous color, right? Refreshing yet sweet, it cleanses the palate perfectly between bites!

Bisque rosé pasta at Nonchalant Lounge
This is the bisque rosé pasta, one of the mains we ordered haha. The moment it arrived, a rich seafood aroma and nutty cream scent hit us, and the visual was overwhelming from the start!

Truffle bulgogi risotto at Nonchalant Lounge
This is the truffle bulgogi risotto — the distinct truffle aroma was deep, giving it a luxurious flavor that stood out. The toppings on top were generous and had a proper creamy richness, so I was amazed with every bite!

Look at the shrimp in the pasta! Plump and bursting with each bite — the texture was really something else haha.

The noodles were cooked just right too, so the rich sauce clung to them instead of pooling around. They gave a generous amount of sauce so it stayed moist to the very last bite.

The risotto's savory bulgogi and creamy softness went together far better than I expected! My mouth was full of flavor, and I was happy the whole way through haha.

Crispy thin pizza at Nonchalant Lounge
Add the crispy thin pizza to this and it's a perfect spread! The dough was thin and crispy so I kept eating slice after slice with no guilt.

The balance between the fresh arugula on top and the ham was great — savory yet clean-tasting! Rolled up in one bite, your mouth fills with rich flavor.

The crunchy pickles they gave us alongside were nice to have between bites too, resetting the palate!
Is Nonchalant Lounge worth it for a Suwon Hwaseong dinner date?

Before we knew it, we'd eaten so intently that every plate was completely empty haha. We came in drawn by the atmosphere, but the food tasted even better than expected, and both my husband and I were very satisfied! The staff were friendly throughout, so we felt well taken care of and left in a great mood.

Nonchalant Lounge, a Suwon Hwaseong restaurant, has such a clearly different charm by day and night that I'm planning to come back for brunch next time! If you're looking for a great-atmosphere date spot near Haenggung-dong, definitely give this place a visit haha. With delicious food in a space full of European charm, it'll be a can't-fail time!!
