Minnak-dong brunch café with yogurt bowl and parking: Famous Benny

Today I've got a review of Famous Benny, a Gwangalli brunch spot my mom, sister, niece and I visited together — four generations, one table!

The weather was so nice on a weekend morning, so we headed to Gwangalli for a bit of an outing plus brunch. We wanted to eat well and just relax with family, so I went in half excited, half curious haha.

Turns out this place has a Blue Ribbon award too!

What are the first and second floors of Famous Benny Gwangalli like?

Famous Benny Gwangalli Branch is a brunch café in Minrak-dong spread across 1st and 2nd floors. My first impression walking in was less "pretty café" and more hip, polished brunch restaurant.

The wood-toned interior and great natural light made it a really photogenic space. The staff were so kind that we could eat comfortably the whole time. But what actually surprised me was the ingredient quality. Blueberries, raspberries, wild berries, macadamia, granola, seeds — I've never seen a brunch place pile on premium ingredients this generously.

There were even edible flowers on top, so the plating looked totally upscale haha.

What the four of us ordered at Famous Benny

That day we ordered French toast (₩17,000), The Famous Benny with salmon (₩18,000), avocado toast (₩16,000), house salad (₩12,000), drip coffee hot (Ethiopian beans), drip coffee iced (Colombian, ₩8,000), and an iced café latte (₩6,000). The portions were just right for four to share, and each dish tasted different so it was fun tasting a bit of everything. Pairing the brunch dishes with a drip coffee each turned out to be a great combo.

Ordering a salmon dish alongside the avocado toast to share is highly recommended haha.

The Famous Benny with salmon

The Famous Benny is a croissant topped with poached egg and salmon — breaking the yolk and eating it with the salmon gave a savory, salty flavor I kept craving.

Avocado toast

The avocado toast came piled with so much avocado that it melted softly in the mouth — the texture was amazing.

It came with fresh vegetables too, so it wasn't heavy at all and I kept reaching for more.

House salad

The house salad had blueberries, raspberries and wild berries on top, so it felt less like a plain salad and more like a dessert.

French toast

The French toast wasn't too sweet either — just the right level of sweetness that kids and adults alike would love.

Yogurt bowl

The yogurt bowl was so tasty for something this healthy — all four of us enjoyed this combination a lot.

Views and photo spots at Famous Benny

Since the café is spread over 1st and 2nd floors, the atmosphere shifts a bit from seat to seat. The floor-to-ceiling windows let in great light, so photos turned out pretty no matter where we sat. The food plating itself was so pretty that we ended up photographing almost every dish before eating haha. Even my niece said it was fun just looking around.

Seasonal highlights

With the weather turning cooler these days, it was perfect for a family outing plus brunch. In summer, iced drinks and salads would be the way to go; in the chillier fall, warm drip coffee paired with brunch sounds great. Going early on a weekend morning means you can enjoy it quietly — recommended for early-bird outing types.

Hours, parking and other practical info

Famous Benny Gwangalli Branch is open from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM (last order 5:00 PM), located at 64 Minrakbon-dong-ro 11beon-gil, Suyeong-gu, Busan, South Korea.

We parked in the lot next to the café — ₩4,000 an hour, but it felt safe and convenient. It's near Gwangalli Beach so it's also easy to reach by public transit. It can get busy on weekends, so I'd recommend visiting with some time to spare. Next time I want to come back in cooler autumn weather.

Where to go next near Gwangalli

After eating, it was easy to head to Gwangalli or Centum City nearby. Our family went shopping at Shinsegae Department Store Centum City Branch to walk off the meal. There are plenty of little shops and cafés around too, so it's a neighborhood you can spend a whole day in. It works equally well as a couple's date course or a family outing.
